Brilliant, well done England, forget about home advantage and all that, it's the gentlemanly thing to provide tailor-made pitches for the only threat the opposition have. Such generosity that I feel touring sides should be given charity status while they're residing in our country.

I think Australia should hire the groundskeeper from Mumbai for the upcoming Ashes. Warney can do a Murali and just run through the English (not that he needs the pitch to do that).

With KP still in we have a chance if he goes anytime soon then it is goodnight Charlie.
All over now then. Oh and Fred's gone now too.

Reminds me a bit of the Pakistan game at Old Trafford in 2001 when our openers made a good start chasing 400+ but then we collapsed in a heap to Saqlain.

Serves us right for our appalling performances after tea on Day 1and the whole of Day 2. We've been criminally slack all series, and this is exactly what we deserved. And please spare me the excuses how many players are missing - the guys who have played, including the regulars, have spent too much of the series playing like amateurs. I can't avoid the conclusion that we've learnt nothing from Pakistan - too many established players are living on their reputations and just seem focused on last summer and next winter.

Geraint Jones for a matchwinning 127 not out.
Paul Collingwood unbeaten on 65 at the end.

The rut stops here.

I suppose the only good thing to come out of this series from an English pov is that it should signal the end of the Flintoff captaincy, even if Vaughan doesn't recover.
