Is Prassana a real rabbit then?

Because if so I don't think that really helps.
Pretty much at Test level, also Maharoof batted above Prassana in the match against Derby. If you play either of them at 7, its a really long tail.

In that case, keep Sanga with the gloves and play an extra batsman IMO!

A specialist at 7 isn't that big an issue since that is traditionally the keeper's spot and he's further up.

Add to the fact Dilshan out bowled some of the specialist bowlers, it would be stupid to play Prassana or a 5th bowler.

Samaraweera and Vandort both got pairs. Amazing. Thank you, Fox Sports for covering this series.

I didn't realise they were covering this series...it'll be good to have cricket on again.

Sri Lanka 118 all out, Broad 3-17 (Jayawardene, Dilshan, Malinga), Lewis 3-41 to end with 9-90 in the match. Means Lewis has 19 wickets @ 8.68 so far in the English season.

*crosses fingers for Cook and Key*

Seconded. Looks the real deal.
I've just read a bit of the 'Next Star...' thread where Richard hammered him, I cannot understand why.

I don't think your prediction of him being a regular for England within two years is too far off of the mark though, Matt. He'll definately get quicker because his body is still developing and he's a decent bat as well.

He's a real good prospect, in my opinion. Not that I'm Leicestershire biased or anything.

Does anyone else fancy giving Broad a run out at Lords? I think Lewis definitely deserves a place, but I'm not convinced by either Mahmood nor Plunkett. Broad has had a very nice start to the season and performed particularly well in this game against Sri Lanka. Give him a go I say!

Trescothick

Cook
Bell
Pietersen
Collingwood
Flintoff (*)
Read (WK)
Broad
Hoggard
Lewis

This would be my team, but I fear that Geraint Jones, Mahmood and Plunkett will be picked ahead of Read, Broad and Lewis.

It'll be Mahmood and Lewis, I think. Plunkett and mahmood would only bowl in short bursts, the workload on Flintoff and Hoggy would run them into the ground. I think Bell and Collingwood may do a fair bit of bowling, though. Yet I'd still be shocked if it wasn't lewis after his performance against Sri Lanka, certainly outbowled Plunkett.

Mahmood was dropped from the "A" side, so the Sri Lankans wouldn't get a look at him, all he had to do was bowl reasonably in the county match, which he did, to be a shoe-in.

Give Broad some time for Leicestershire for now, I think.

It'll be "interesting" anyway:unsure:

He's hammered countless players, Ali Cook got a lot of negativity from him as well...

ATM Read should not be picked ahead of Jones, but as i mentioned earlier in this thread its an important season for both if Jones doesn't have a solid test season with both bat & gloves & Read keeps improving with the bat Read could have the gloves on at the Gabba on November 23rd.

Broad has been doing well but i reckon Flecther would not want to throw him into the test arean just yet, i would expect Plunks to get the nod in front of him. I agree that Lewis should play though since i am not too convinced about Mahmood.

I would also add the stress fracture he received in 1982 (?) and his increase in weight over the same period. Just before the home series against Pakistan, I think, where Imran Khan comprehensively outperformed him. The combination of injury and weight gain resulted in the loss of his ability to swing the ball - especially that beautiful outswinger - and he became, with a few exceptions, a very ordinary bowler. What a waste.
Good point about the stress fracture. I suppose I see Beefy's extra pounds as stemming from the sort of attitude I rererred to previously. It was certainly a factor though - remember the pig on the field at the end of the 1982/83 Aus tour, when Botham had bowled appallingly, with "Hemming" written on one side and "Botham" on the other?

call yourself a Lancashire fan, what exaclty has PLunkett done to deserve a place in front of Mahmood?

He calls himself "aussie", yet isn't. Don't see why he can't do the same with "lancashire fan."

Besides, Mahmood's not done anything, either. Tbf, neither of them have done anywhere near enough to be close to the Test side. However, I'm incredibly, stupendously biased towards Lancashire and claim that Mahmood has shown some potential atleast, whilst Plunkett hasn't. However, I'm slowly coming round to admitting that it's not true.
