**Official** Sri Lanka in England / Scotland - 2011

Senanayke is a real gem when it comes to off breaks. He's nearly 6' 2" tall, gives it a serious rip and very bullish in attitude. SL domestic bowlers' stats should be taken with a pinch of salt because they play on **** pitches and should add 5 - 6 runs to it to have a meaning. Still with that his stats are impressive. More impressive has been his demolition jobs against A teams (Aussie and Pakistani), and will be certain to dish it out to England Lions this season at least in one innings.
Sounds very promising. Are you sure there isn't more to it? I mean it's rather surprising that such an obvious talent hasn't been selected so far.

Coz whatever be the level of cricket, a spinner picking up a wicket every 7 overs he sends down has to be ridiculously good. Notwithstanding the ****ed up pitches that you talk about. Such strike-rates are unheard of outside of games on the balcony with a tennis ball! Why isn't there a massive outrage among SL supporters?

This guy, for all we know, could be decimating international sides but they refuse to give him a chance. Pathetic!

18 year old Tymal Mills, in his first game, with his first wicket, makes the breakthrough for Essex against the touring Sri Lankans.

Not bad to have Piranha as your first first-class wicket. WAG.

Some people are skeptical about his action, but looks much cleaner than Randiv's. The pathetic part from the admins is that, if he had a suspect action, they should have acted a long time back. This guy was the best FC bowler for four straight seasons.

The other problem is that SL sports media men are a equally ******** as selectors if not more. The main topic on WC squad was exclusion of Jayasuriya, but not the exclusion of Vaas, Chandimal or Randiv or inclusion of Kapugedara or Silva. Most of them don't know that there is such an awesome spinner. Hathurusinghe knew this man's potential, but he has broken up with SLC. If ot for idiotic selectors, Senanayake would be knocking on doors of any test side of the world.

Anyway, English will have a chance to see him bowling. S'nanayake, Prasanna and Weerakoon will form a quality spin attack for SL A later this summer.

Given the standard of bowling he seems to be facing I'm not sure how relevant this is. Still, time in the middle is time in the middle.

5 wickets gone for 12 runs in the Essex game.

Reece Topley got Sangakkara, P Jayawardena and Randiv this morning, ended up with 4/23 from 14 overs.

Hell of a collapse from the Sri Lankans but I'm not sure if it was pre-declaration slogging. 337/9d now.

I'm actually starting to like this tour match. It is both giving the Lankan selectors a reason to keep playing Maharoof, AND hopefully has made our selectors realise that Bopara is poo.

Go Essex!

Totally agree, Bopara can't moan in the press again about being treated badly if he continuosly fails to produce with the bat. Bloke isn't good enough, end of.

It was strange yesterday that Topley only bowled 7 overs and the part timers bowled a load and today he showed why it was a strange decision.
It wasn't down to declaration slogging, why the collapse happened because Maharoof only hit 5 from 35 deliveries trying to stretch the innings out right at the end.

Just skimmed the scorecard then. Really was two birds with one rock, ey?
