**Official** Sri Lanka in England and Ireland 2016

Yeah you'd expect England should stroll towards anything around 300 here. Given the situation Sri Lanka would do well to get there.

Looks like a pretty good situation for England, seems anyone who had a burst got out doing it before things got out of hand.

Fear Mathews in this situation though. England should be looking to bowl them out, worst case scenario is anything where Mathews is not out.

SL look just a smidge fortunate to get up towards 280. Think it might not be that great for batting, be a tougher chase than some have made out

Not sure about the balance of this bowling attack - obviously not having Stokes available massively affects that.

None of these guys are natural death bowlers, even if all of them seem to have improved on that front.

Yeah agree, it is a flat pitch but the ball swung a bit early on and 280+ is never an easy chase.
I'm more thinking that it hasn't looked like it's come on to the bat much in the last 10 overs. Very little properly timed.

Part of that is that this is a good spell from Woakes. Good length and good change of pace.

Woakes definitely suffers from being a jack of all trades, even more so as a bowler than he is as an allrounder, not quite a death bowler and not quite a swing bowler. I'm not sure which discipline I'd rather he improve but a hefty move in either direction would answer a few questions.

Still, from what I saw I think he did well today.

You could add further to that. How many times will a commentator point out that he's "quicker than he seems" or "deceptively quick"? Oh how much better served he'd be by being just "quick".
