**Official** Sri Lanka in England and Ireland 2016

I had my doubts on O'Brien because of his age. It's good to see him still playing the role I thought only Stirling is capable of (in spite of the drops). This partnership needs to carry on till the 40th over for Ireland to have any chance.

Diiiiire, rain ruining it. :( It's been a really good game so far.

I wonder if Ireland would've been ahead on D/L just before Porterfield got out (I assume they're behind now).

game over, clinical win from us..good day for Shanaka with 42 off 19 and also 5 /43..solid performance from our boys..also a decent effort from Ireland, from the bits i saw, rankin looked pretty decent and KOB showed his ability again..for the next game, would like to see Tharanga at six and Maharoof given a game but tbh I cant see both him and Shanaka playing..

Tharanga at six makes no sense. Either ditch him completely if he's too old for the next WC or let him play where he can make an impact. Why ask him to reinvent himself at 31? SL has really screwed his career.. I know he doesn't get along with SL management but considering SL's lack of resources it's pretty pathetic that he was never allowed security so he could develop.

Damn I hadn't realised that Dilshan only scored one of his hundreds when he was in his 20s. His absolutely ridiculous run of form was from about 32-34, and his whole record from the age of 32 onwards is pretty close to flawless.

Yeah he spent his 20s batting in the lower middle order.. in ODIs that's obviously a harder role to score tons and have a good average in, but on top of that he just wasn't anywhere near as good at that as he was at opening.

Yeah I can see your point about tharanga so do you suggest dropping KP or Gunathilaka?

Ireland are done as a cricket force, they had a golden generation and its on its last legs, the younger players coming through not up to it.

I've thought this for a little while but if anything this series and this season as a whole has changed my mind a bit. They were really competitive in the first game -- margin at the end didn't show how close the game actually was throughout; they really could have won that -- and I think McCarthy and McBrine look really promising young bowlers which is the area I most feared for them.
