***Official*** Sri Lanka in England and Ireland 2014

Norwood's on Fire
It suggests to me that they don't trust Root, he really should be at 3 with Bell at 4.
And if they don't trust him you have to question why he's there

Bell should probably be at 3 looking at the rest of the line-up but he always plays better at 4/5 so happy enough with that

They're probably hedging their bets by putting Bell at four. Imagine Cook and Bell departing in quick succession...

Pradeep doesn't look amazing but he looks better than 8 wickets in 6 games...

Poor shot. Decent start from Sri Lanka though, putting the ball in decent areas.
Kind of what you expect from a professional attack, never mind an international one. Which may come back to bite me when England's attack bowl far too short for this track.

Shame for Robson. Probably brought about by nerves, as he had no need to play at that.

And it's been said elsewhere, but this really does feel like a throwback to the 1980s with the number of new players lately. Given that we've not managed to find even one consistently convincing newcomer since Collingwood called it a day three years ago, these are going to be tough times for England's selectors.

Oh FFS Cook, what the hell was that supposed to be? Go away and grow a brain mate.

Think 4 is ideal for Bell now there is no KP.

Yeah that is what I was getting at with the Root thing, I think he will have a good summer though. Just looked like a test cricketer when I saw him against New Zealand last year, think we will see that batsman again this summer.

Wow the "huge" atmosphere of Lords is deafening..goods areas from our bowlers..I have to say I was wrong to call for us to play two spinners at this stage..:whistling

No, but hardly surprising given what we've seen from English batsmen over the last two and half years plus lots of newcomers.
