Sena and Buttler are both not in their corresponding Test squads.
No but Mathews is, he upheld the appeal and no SL player tried to talk him out of it. Not saying they should have but the England team may hold it against the whole team. It certainly adds spice to things later today.

Eng should destroy SL in the Tests - they don't really need much more of an incentive.

Read the laws you dope. You can't mankad a batsmen in your delivery stride. The law was specifically changed to stop it.

Not the big issue though here. Still the top order woeful against spin and lack any ability to put pressure on the bowling. Root must be dropped for India in favour of Hales/Vince.

They should do, might make it a badblooded series though.
Unlikely when pretty much everyone in the commentary team agrees it's within the rules of the game and Sena gave a warning. Is mankading illegal? If anything the rest of the match might be testy, but the test match is more than a week from now and this would be forgotten by then.

In short, much like the Karthik/Barrow run out two years ago, it's:

(a) legal
(b) thick from Buttler
(c) unsporting from Sri Lanka

I am nevertheless amused by recalling the Sri Lankan howls of anguish when Muralitharan was run out in New Zealand because he wandered down the wicket to congratulate Sangakkara on his century. You can't complain about that one and defend this.
Why not? In that instance Murali was gaining no advantage and was given no warning.

Here Butler was gaining a couple of extra inches headstart and was even warned.

If no laws are broken (which I was wrong about due to the two differing rules) then I don't really care about spirit of the game or whatever that is supposed to mean but to pretend Buttler is gaining an advantage is farcical.

Wonder if Thirimanne had a word...
That's the umpire's call - he could've said Buttler wasn't trying to get an advantage, but it can be argued even an inch past the line is technically an advantage.

Haven't read the thread but I hope no one is whining about Mankading of Butler. If they are, it makes the dismissal sweet.

Suck it up
