***Official*** Sri Lanka in England and Ireland 2014

Certainly adds a bit to this game, still think England have a good chance here.

Wish the Umpires were allowed to just call him for chucking, that would really make things fun.
ARENT the umpires allowed to call him if they suspect it?

You can be run out off a no ball ffs. Stop crying.
Read the laws you dope. You can't mankad a batsmen in your delivery stride. The law was specifically changed to stop it.

Not the big issue though here. Still the top order woeful against spin and lack any ability to put pressure on the bowling. Root must be dropped for India in favour of Hales/Vince.

Just to clarify, I was watching on playback and made my comment about being sporting BEFORE satchi ran out butler . Personally, despite it being within the rules, I DONT agree with him doing it. IMO, he should have given him one more warning ( I.e three warnings) after that fair game, its the batsmans responsibility then.
Actually, I'm with the bowler on this one, IF he had warned Buttler previously. Even one warning is enough imo. Why should the batsman get away with cheating?

There was another instance of this in the county game a couple of years ago. IIRC Surrey vs Somerset, so it's possible that Buttler was playing. Lots of howls of anguish from the Somerset contingent, especially as it was Surrey. But that bowler had warned the batsman previously, but he (Barrow?) simply chose to ignore said warning.

Buttler would certainly have been aware of that incident, even if wasn't playing. So for him to make the same mistake today really wasn't the smartest move.

Obviously some of the tabloids will be full of all sorts of crap about this tomorrow, but thankfully the English commentators on TMS are being admirably even handed.

Reminds me a bit about the Bell dismissal at Trent Bridge in 2011, when Dhoni rescinded that run-out appeal. Really he should have told Bell to FRO and grow a brain.
Ditto Buttler today.

Eh looking back not sure he actually fully completes his delivery swing there. I might be wrong on that one, its very close though and the fact he had to go so far into his action shows that Buttler wasn't running down the pitch.

Buttler also isn't trying to steal a run, so clearly it is against the spirit of the game but dopeyness from Buttler probably deserved it.

Definitely a bit sneaky though. Buttler wasn't exactly backing up, he just strolled out when he thought the ball would be released.

Got no real problem with it, just think it will cause a really **** atmosphere for the test series. There will be moments when a Sri Lankan scores a 50 and England players won't clap or a SL bat gets hit and nobody will check he is ok and some will say it is an eye for an eye.

Ahhh that's why I was getting confused. The rule is different in ODIs (actually quite sensible) it is delivery stride in FC cricket so that wouldn't be allowed and Satchi would have been no balled.

It involved two players, one of whom isn't in the test squad.

The game is already heavily batsmen-favored - I honestly don't know why people don't do this more often. Who says this is against the spirit of the game? Even if Buttler wasn't charging down the pitch, he is getting a yard extra that he shouldn't be. Sena even warned him - he doesn't have to do that techinically speaking.
