Jayawardene's ODI average isn't much cop, is it? I'd always thought it was 40ish.

Mahela just isn't that good in ODIs.. he got into T20Is better than ODIs, which helped his ODI game because he became more aggressive.. In ODIs he should really be opening because he prefers time to setup an innings but never got a chance..
