Although they are pretty well bossing the game, Ravi getting through 7 in the first 26 is a positive. I'd bring Jimmy back on, don't fancy him at all at the death.

I'm really not sure what to make of this score, in the end the pitch looks pretty good for batting on, particularly if there's little cloud cover, a bit of spin is worrying, but I'm not too displeased yet.

England are doing well IMO

Only downside is that SL have a number of wc batsmen who could take the game away

Tredders has looked excellent when he has really slowed it down. Big wicket that, powerplay coming soon.

Well, it's certainly a disciplined, if not brilliant bowling performance, no-one has been awful. Yet of course that can change at the business end. Tredders remains a solid performer even against the best players of spin.

Given that the commentators aren't going to bother analysing it as they don't know the first things about keeping wicket, two points worth making about Jos' work for that dismissal: (i) standing in front / to the side of the stumps rather than behind them and then using his hips and knees superbly to transfer the momentum of the ball back toward the stumps rather than having to brake it and then reverse it, and linked with that (ii) almost zero "give" in his body as the ball hits the gloves - all the momentum absorbed in the wrists to get the ball moving again almost instantly.

He made it look very simple but these are skills that are often conspicuous at youth level only by their absence, and it doesn't help that they are completely ignored on TV...
