ffs. When are they gonna start using the TV to make decisions and take it out of the hands of dumb ****s like Koertzen

I don't agree with that MacGilla's talent is very well known to all of us he just is having a rough time of it atm (and he probably has a dodgey knee too) so he needs all the support he can get atm from his team-mates because ideally the Aussies would want him to there till the Ashes 09 so that gives the next-gen spinners time to be groomed.
But you don't pick the Test team based on how good a player can play, it should be picked on who's playing well now. Based on that, MacGill can't be selected for the Boxing Day Test match at this stage, and he shouldn't get a look in again until whoever replaces him underperforms.

Superb knock from Sanga though it was a tragic end to his innings but probably this was the only way he was gonna get out today, shocking decision from Rudi nonetheless.

This is why I am all for having two challenges. We should be talking about the cricket, and not discussing the level of muppet that Rudi is.

Just before Sangakkara got out i felt like Sri Lanka still had a (very remote) chance, Malinga was hanging around well and the Aussies had no answer to Kumar, I reckon if those two had gotten to 410-420 or so then the Australians would have really started to panic.

Very disapointing decision.

I said the same thing about Dhoni when he appealed for the Pieterson catch: it's dreadful to appeal.

Obviously, Rudi is the chief dolt here, but still. I bet 80% of the people who appealed knew it wasn't out.

But there aren't many better options atm the younger spinners aren't ready yet and Hogg is the only likely option but still i think MacGill should play in the remaining 4 test matches this summer.

Right now we've got another option who, even if not quite as good as MacGill, is certainly bowling far better at the moment, and therefore deserves to be picked. Hogg's form at the moment is infinitely superior to MacGill's, and MacGill's knees are such an issue he shouldn't be picked for the Test team anyway

AWTA. Hogg deadset cert for Boxing Day unless MacGill performs a couple of miracles at domestic level. Indians will carve MacGill up but have shown trouble in picking Hogg and his variations.

What odds are Lanka at now? I reckon they can do it still.
Wait, what? Seriously, even though I disagreed with you, I could understand your reasoning at 1/150 and 3/250.. but Malinga and Murali are at the crease on the 5th day of a test and they still need over 100 to win. They have no hope. If Sri Lanka win this game, I'll eat cat food and put the footage of it on YouTube for you all to see. It's not going to happen.

How do you know Hogg cannot be the better option compared to MacGill? If you have that much faith in MacGill despite his poor form or whatever it is (it has not been just this test series), it is fair enough that you continue with him. I wouldn't. If Hogg fails, I would select another pace bowler despite the problems with playing 4 fast bowlers. It isn't a preferable option but any thing is preferable to MacGill playing if he keeps bowling the way he is.

****ing despicable way to end the match IMO (assuming Murali and Malinga don't go too far), awful call to dismiss a brilliantly defiant knock.

On a lighter note, Malinga kicks ass, good to see him hit a few underrated bat IMO (after seeing him hit well in one or two matches against us Kiwi's).

He's obviously taking the piss.

Malinga on his career best, you feel if Sanga wasn't given out that this could have went down to the wire.

Murali to hit 68*.
