Ideal day that
Especially as I thought Gabriel and Joseph bowled pretty poorly, particularly Shannon. Sri Lanka allowed us to get past that through a run out and then the skill of Roach and Holder took over.

Good stuff. Some good captaincy from Kraigg already, bringing Rakheem on early, trying different fields, giving Mayers a go. Certainly more proactive.

I guess that's the reason for bringing in so many seamers - You never know when Gabriel will suddenly forget how to bowl

Will Shai Hope be considered again for test cricket
I think he's got to be in the selectors thoughts after the odi series.

I'll be interested to see what position he bats at for Barbados during the FC season.

If he puts runs on the board then I wouldn't be surprised if he's back for the series against Pakistan, Campbell seems the one most at risk although they could drop a pacer and lengthen the batting as well.

There has to be serious consideration given to moving Shannon to third seamer/enforcer. Alzarri and Holder are better placed to take the new ball as they pitch it up further and look to swing it.

Let's see how these two tests go but him wasting the new ball is not a one off, it has happened during our two previous tours.

Agreed. He just needs to make lots of FC runs. His ODI form shouldn't matter at all, he's been class in that format for 2 years now, it didn't help his red ball game. He needs to rediscover the art of building a long innings in red ball cricket.

Just saw the highlights of the day and I must say that it’s one of the best days of test cricket for us in recent times...the bowling especially from Holder, Roach, & Cornwall was exceptional.
I haven’t seen a stump cartwheeling in international in a very long time— Roach’s ball to Chameera was a peach.
What I observed from Holder that he was not afraid to pitch up the ball.
As I have mentioned in a previous post, Rahkeem has the safest pair of hands in world cricket.
A few chances we missed out on...have to take the chances when they present themselves. Blackwood should have taken that catch.
I like the in which we cleaned up the tail of Sri Lanka. A good wrap up.

Both of these guys at the crease are in some kinda form, they made runs in the best versus best match and what will be interesting is the way Campbell builds his innings after stellar defense in the last hour of today.

Tomorrow looks to be an enthralling day of cricket.

I was going to say it's because he's tall, but I'd dispute your premise to start with. He floats the ball gracefully.

I think sometimes he looks quicker than he is because of the superb seam presentation and wrist position as well. Because he hits the seam every ball it gives the illusion of gathering pace, particularly when he bowls the in-ducker of off cutter.

But agreed for the most part he looks around 125 to 130kph to me.

I hope to see some positive batting from Windies today, yesterday was bad viewing watching them lack intent
I think they did well not to have lost any wickets. That is a plus in my book. There are four days still remaining in the match... lots of time.
The ball have lost some of its shine—batting should get easier today.
