Test batting for SL is quite stable. Only issue is the non availability of Mathews and Lahiru Kumara. Provided everybody is fit and firing would see a following line up.

Karunarathne
Nissanka
Thirimanne
Chandimal*
DDS
R. Silva
Dilwella+
Shanaka / Ramesh Mendis
Lakmal
V. Fernando
Embuldeniya

Slower pitch, Ramesh Mendis most probably will play. However, Ramesh is more of a limited overs bowler and should have been used in 3rd ODI. It also presents with a selection dilemma whether to pick Dhanushka Gunathilaka over Pathum Nissanka. On a faster, bouncier pitch, Gunathilaka would be more handier as the only weakness he has shown up to now was slower bowling.

Should be a close series, really looking forward to it. I think Lakmal will perform well if the pitch has as much grass on it as it has for the last couple of tests.

Unavailability of Lahiru Kumara will have repercussions. Last time around WIndies boys were shaken up by him an d made life of other pacers easy.

That in itself is an interesting conversation. I was in Barbados for the 2nd test and he really did trouble Kraigg, Hope, Chase and Dowrich in particular. This side only has Kraigg left and the likes of Mayers and Bonner play the short ball better (at least in domestic cricket). It still would have been good to see how they coped with him.

I note the guys have done a lot of practice against left arm spin in the nets, probably preparing for Embuldeninya.

So, tall left armers bowling to batsmen?

Tbh I just saw a video on Joshua Da Silva's YouTube channel showing endless batting against left arm spin. It has been a weakness of our right handers for a long time and they must have seen how well he bowled against England.
What a coincidence!
I was just watching it about 10 minutes ago. It was against Warrican. He was good on the defense. A few gripped on the surface a turned square.

surely it must hurt you that thirimanne seems to be an auto pick

but as a neutral observer i for one am incredibly excited to watch shannon gabriel and kemar roach obliterate his stumps or find his outside edge for scores of between 10 and 25 every time that sri lanka has to bat

Permaul is getting some good purchase on a good wicket for cricket here.
Putting some pressure on Chandimal and Oshada.

Good warmup game so far on the first day.

Anderson Philip has been impressive! He picks up his third wicket, getting the outside edge of Fernando of a ball that was just outside off stump on a good length.

Just heard on the commentary of the warmup game that they are using the Kookaburra ball...the same will be used in the test series...

Windies moving away from the Dukes it would seem.

It's good to see Sir Curtly in the West Indies setup-- probably a mentor. It's not official as yet. But on the coverage of the warmup game on YT, we see him donning the training kit of the Windies.
