I'll use the West Indies series for that, thanks :)
L:lol:L, the point that was being made by Bazar was that the team that were struggling on bouch pitches of Aus and WI would never win the WC or even do well.Wi played in India, so ur point is baseless. Also if India lost to WI, then they also happen to have won the CT, besides which team havs been constantly winning onedayers ??.If one example of failure is enough to write a team off than we can write of each and every test playing nations , as everyone has had their share of failures!

How many years ago was that?? They are two different teams now so you can't keep referring to victories that happened 10+ years ago!
It doesn't matter how many years back it happened. This is because even in '83 , when India defeated the WI team to win the WC, noone was willing to take India seriously, everyone was of the opinion that Indian batsmen WILL and CAN NEVER perform on England pitches. The same theory is being applied to the present Indian team.Granted that the team is totally different, but their style of play is very similar.

Who is living on past glory?? by mentioning that India happen to have won a WC away from home in England, i wasn't trying to glorify the '83 Champion team (would have done it had i wanted on another thread) instead i was indicating to you that your theory that Asian teams can never DO WELL on bouncy pitches is illogical, pundits like you have always come with with such a theory and have been proven wrong.

An impression is being created as if Asian teams, in particular India can only win in Subcontinent. Therefore it was essential to remind some people that Inida and other have won WC away from Asia in the past. Some people have even gone far with their hatred and suggested that India can only win with the help of corrupt umpires(rogue).
Its all very unfortunate!

It doesn't matter how many years back it happened. This is beacause "a particular team" is not being targetted, but the Pundit has come up with a theory that Asians team , no matter which one, simply cannot DO WELL on fast pitches. Even in '83 , when India defeated the WI team to win the WC, such pundits were willing to take India seriously, everyone was of the opinion that Indian batsmen WILL and CAN NEVER perform on England pitches. The same theory is being applied to the present Indian team.Granted that the team is totally different, but their style of play is very similar.

A chance given away by Pakistan. They bowled superbly to restrict SA to 182 but jumped out of the boat :(!

The SA bowling was disciplined but the batsmen got out to their own mistakes as usual. Playing away from the body, there were 4 or 5 slip/wk catches from the top order..says a lot about who was hanging that bat to dry. This was a crucial match, now Pakistan will have to make a comeback into the series. Pollock bowled well and played a very important innings that is what made the difference in the end.

Interesting point, so if we assume that SL will lose the VB series in Australia then we arrive at a conclusion that SL will have no chance in the World cup. That's fine with me, but then how are you going to write of Pakistan who happened to have won a oneday series in Australia a few months back?? Oh i see, you are going to do that on the basis of Pakistan losing to SA in SA (regardless of their performance in Aus).Again its fine with me, but then how are you going to write off India??
If India can struggle in favourable conditions then they can easily struggle in unfavourable ones.

Of course, it's not impossible to win the WCs in unfavourable conditions, but it's more difficult. And the NZ series as it's progressing currently doesn't bode well, does it?

Pakistan are showing this well - one good day and two stinkers so far.

Pakistan continue to be an enigma Away from Home. I think their play / results must depend on which side of the bed they get out of in the morning - how else can you explain how they can inflict SA's biggest loss in ODI, and then drop the bundle again next time out??????

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Well, to answer your question the team which has consistantly won ODIs in the last year is Australia...although you are probably hinting towards India, which would be the incorrect answer...which Team beat the Current 2nd Best ODI Team in the world (South Africa) 6-1 in their last ODI series? I'll give you a hint, it's not India...

Also, India shared the Champions Trophy...

Consistency has been as elusive for Pakistan as ever. Only if they learned to go strength from strength, I dont doubt it that they would be dominating every one. But things level out..

Nobody asked you as to WHY you came up with such a post but WHAT was you trying to prove by mentioning the Wi series.
The Theorists "bazar" has suggested that Asian BATSMEN will struggle on bouncy pitches and as such will STRUGGLE in WC.In the WI series India lost because of its bowlers, i don't need to put up stats but Indian batters scored heavily in the series , thats why your whole point was senselss!!
As for referring to the NZ series, first let me clear one thing, you guys have to wait till the ondayer series are over or half way through to arrive at any conclusion.A oneday team should be judge by its onedayer performance and not by Test matches!
And lastly, the theorists was talking about all the Asians struggling in the WC because of pitches(NOTE:he's not talking about them not winning the WC but rather them struggling throughout the WC) i would like to remind him that one of the finalists in the previous WC played outside Asia happen to be an Asian. This further proves that his theory is rubbish!

The answer to the question was NONE! I was saying that there is no team that has been winning onedayers constantly, Aus had their share of loses too!

AS for India sharing the CT, well Australia shared the Kenyan trophy with Pak coz the match was washed off, but we all know that the Winner would have been Aus had whether allowed the play to be completed, it was the a same story in CT, India was more than likely to be the winners!

Stop these vain compaisons. You just belittled Aus UP there and now you prove them to be heros here.

I'll make it easy for ya :

How did you know that Aus were going to be the winners against a formiddable side liek Pakistan ? just answer this and u'll see the light.

We were writing off SC teams after one failure. It looked to me like the batting let them down badly in the final..

We're talking about the current batting line-ups...

Nice try mate.Even though its not smart to judge a team by its performance in one series , yet the theorist was judging the team by its performance throughout one series and not by a SINGLE match!

Oh really? interesting. How was the batting line up of Pak in 99 so much different than it is today? Atmost Anwar has been replaced by Elahi. Ejaz is not in the team but is replaced by a better player in Younis Khan. Its nearly the same batting line up.Infact Saeed Anwar is probably going to be back in the team. And Elahi is way better than Wajahatullah wasti!

India though have a better batting line up than they had in '99.With Sehwag,Yuvraj,Kaif and Mongia all very good onedayer batters. And thank goodness there is no Jadeja in the team!

What comparison?? I only pointed out that every team had its sahre of losses, i never compared Aus with India, its hardly the subject. The point was that if a team can be written off by its defeat on SA or Aus soil, then by the same token one can write off Aus just because they happen to have lost onedayer series in Aus(VB).Which ofcourse would be silly!

I never belittled Australia so stop whinging over it.As for the Kenya cup, Pakistan was totally out of form in the tournament, infact even Kenya gave them an actual scare.Pakistan was without Akhter and SAqlain in the tour.Aus had scored 67 runs in just 9 overs chasing just 228 for victory on a batting track.Ponting said after wards that they were robbed of a victory!

More likely in your eyes but they didn't win it so it doesn't matter. Anyway, we will never know...
