My understanding is that Zimbabwe's group matches are the only ones that will be played in Zimbabwe.

Because the situation with the White Farmers, Mugabe and the War Veterans is still going on and could affect some of the matches. Polatics

I havent seen many overs yet without a boundary or a six hit. Still though this is a flat track..low bounce..reminiscent of ?
The Sub-Continent? They should feel right at home then! Well if Elahi keeps doing this then your gonna have to pick a new entry for the AA Award...I mean it's your country that depends on whoever you pick
Well Elahi has proved all of us wrong, he has three tons from four onedayers now.He should be the regarded as the next VIV Richards from Pak:lol::lol::lol:.

I still think he's a bad choice for WC:(!

This is late, I know but my isp was acting up yesterday....and I have to let it out....

Brilliant innings by both Razzak and Elahi. They gave a thorough hammering to the SA attack on an SA pitch (:wow: to that )
Razzaq coming back from injury came up with his best effort in ODI's. The mind set of the Pakistani batsmen today was refreshing to watch. This is what they need to do. Good positive batting mixed with solidity. And if Razzak can come with such wonderful performances then that will be a huge plus.

That partnership was really phenomenal, Elahi posted the highest score by a Pakistani against South Africa (how ironic) and that was the best second wicket partnership against them as well. So some records tumbling there.

The target is big but it isn't what it looked like it was going to be with the score standing at 200 in 30.

Oh...and did I mention....Pollock went for 61 of hs 10 :duh:

but someone posted after the first one dayer saying that the Pakistanis couldn't even play Pollock square of the wicket
Actually Anil, the pitch was being referred to as the 'square'. Not square of the wicket.

And marc is right I was wrong abt that record thing.

Let me clear a few things up that might have been lost in the translation. When I said they couldn't hit him off the square, I was referring to the square which is used at grounds to prepare the pitches on. They usually have about what 5 different ones at different stages of preparation. It is just a saying for when a batsman is struggling to score runs or when a bowler seems impossible to score runs off (in this case Pollock).

Also the thing about the rest of this series and the world cup was as Marc pointed out regarding him bowling on home pitches. I wasn't suggesting he'd only go for 1 an over throughout this period of time.

Also I still maintain that SA will win this series, and that the subcontinental teams will struggle in the world cup. We have seen SL struggle against South Africa and expect more of the same in similar Australian conditions.

Suppose if Pakistan do lose this series as you have been wishing for, it doesn't mean that other Asian teams will also struggle in SA in the same manner. As i have pointed out earlier, all the three Asian teams have different strength and weaknesses.
Also, India and Pak happen to have won the WC not in subcontinent but in places like Australia and England, so i don't see as to why they can't do well in SA.
From this series one can only judge as to how Pak and SA will perform in the WC.Also, will you be saying the same thing over and over again if Pakistan loses this series by a narrow margin of 3-2??

A 3-2 result 2 either Pakistan or SA will be interesting.5-0 or 4-1 loss is what can be described as a real struggle, going down 3-2 in onedayers means the 2 teams were closely matched.

Interesting point, so if we assume that SL will lose the VB series in Australia then we arrive at a conclusion that SL will have no chance in the World cup. That's fine with me, but then how are you going to write of Pakistan who happened to have won a oneday series in Australia a few months back?? Oh i see, you are going to do that on the basis of Pakistan losing to SA in SA (regardless of their performance in Aus).Again its fine with me, but then how are you going to write off India?? I guess the explaination would be that since the other Asian countries happen to have a poor chance in the WC, Inida too should fall in the same category

I'll use the West Indies series for that, thanks :)

How many years ago was that?? They are two different teams now so you can't keep referring to victories that happened 10+ years ago!

It's usually the past you want to forget...it's the past 3 years (or since the 99 World Cup and NZ Series) that most people want to remember at the moment...most of the 90's is forgettable :D

Well technically they were against England (501* was in County cricket). You all may not have enjoyed it but I'm sure it was not easy to forget!:D

Looks like a bit of a stinker of a batting pitch, that one.

However, full credit to Wasim (43*) and Waqar (18) for putting on 46 for the ninth wicket and avoiding total humiliation.
