Congrats indeed. A devastatingly unorthodox, and thrilling to watch batsman scoring lots of runs - that's what cricket's all about, even if it is a ridiculously flat track and he's reining himself in.

well the dead antigua pitch makes an ordinary batsman look good. no surprise if this ends up raising his test average to over 40 either, what a disgrace.

Yeah great stuff...he is never really going to be one of those types of players who innings after innings gets big scores like Kallis or Dravid etc,but when he clicks he is great fun to watch and if he does get to the magic 401 mark, who would have thought gayle would be the guy to break the record!!!!

I think is average is over 40 now....no matter how dead the pitch, he is still facing a decent attack, and no matter how easy the pitch is, it still is a wonderful effort

I do like the way Mr Jennings only started to complain about the pitch after day 3 - of course, he didn't have a problem at 525-4!

Seems to be the West Indian way, get tonked in the series then produce the flattest of flat pitches to save embarrasment.

What was the excuse for the first Test pitch then?

in 20 tests on this ground, there have been 51 centuries, including 3 triple centuries(2 of which were world records) and one double century.
why do they even bother playing cricket here?

well... its a pretty important ground for the west indies, its their redemption ground whenever they get embarrrased in the preceding matches of a series they use antigua to salvage some pride

Good knock by Gayle. Some aggression mixed with dogged defiance. He' played this way before mind you on pitches not so flat.

it really burns me, the guy couldnt buy a run during the rest of the series and played like a complete schoolboy, comes to the flattest wicket in the world and scores 312 and all is forgotten and hes hailed for his performance.

good effort and all but you gotta admit its becoming abit of a problem, there has been almost as many triple's hit in the last 3 or 4 years as the rest of test cricket history...

Great of course to see a bit of appreciation from you for a triple century against a good attack..
To anyone interested in valuing your opinion, I'd just tell them to have a look at your MSN name at the moment, poor form, especially for a supposed "cricket fan"

Well batted CG, not that I saw a lot of the innings myself
