***Official*** South Africa in Sri Lanka 2014

Feel like the Saffers would have been better off bowling for most if not all of this session, the Sri Lankan batsmen will be tired from fielding but if they only get 10-15 overs at them then they won't have as much chance to make significant inroads before the close

South Africa will avoid leaving to much f for the final session at all costs. Wanting to win above wanting to lose.

Will be interesting to see what Amla does. but there is no harm batting as long as possible to break the sri lankans amd deal a mental blow for the rest of the series.

It's just spinners wheeling away conceding 2 an over though, not really the mental blow you'd want, particularly given Sri Lankan bowlers are used to toil, with rain around later you'd want to be getting a bit of a move on and really try to win this game IMO.

3rd new ball, yeesh. About time for the declaration, important SL either survive till stumps or lose only one wicket.

Mind you if Morkel can hang around that long there can't be too many demons in the pitch
Morkel seems to find a way of going out easy on flat pitches and digging in in difficult circumstances lol so you cant use him as a benchmark... the pitch will tear appart tomorrow so south africa decided to bat as long as possible... time can be an ally in test cricket.

No, but you should have been where you eventually got to by tea rather than halfway through the final session to really get ahead in the game IMO, This is a very good bowling attack in conditions that are only gonna get more difficult, but this is also a fine batting line-up at home, gonna be tough to run through them tomorrow

Tharanga is a joy to watch when he gets going, would love nothing more than for him to go on and score a big hundred

Well as you suggest the batting conditions are perfect now. then rather get as much as we can today and have a go at them tomorrow rather than bowl 30 overs for 100+ runs in very hot conditions.

Yeah I certainly see why they chose to bat the way they did, I just feel this session was a chance to really break the spine of the batting but 15 overs may not be enough now, we'll see

ouch, tharanga ducking into a bouncer from Philander..not much bounce in the wicket..havent seen much of it, is the wicket even in terms of bounce?

Becoming more inconsistent by the day, mainly slow and low though from what I've seen.

Tharanga looks more assured outside off to me from when I last saw him, good signs

maximas  tharanga now.... glad you've turned to the dark side mate..oh god, i can still hear percy bleating fromthe boundary..doesnt he have a mute button?

 He looks good though! Much better than that innings on Ireland when he poked at everything outside off, playing with conviction today
