*Official* South Africa in New Zealand

I think it also goes to show that this NZ 'A' series v S.L has not been a total waste of time like other people have thought it has been.

The 2 players who started out for the NZ 'A' side with good form have both continued that form going into the South African matches & hopefully Mason will do the same when he bowls.

It's been a very worthwhile series for the NZ 'A' players as it means they're not sitting around at home, rather they're still play a decent standard of cricket & keeping some form under their belt.

I would agree whole heartly.

Those that arent needed go back into the 'A' team and those preforming go into the senior team.

Papps got a horrendous decision from Dar, considering how wide of the crease Ntini was bowling..there's no way you can be certain it will hit the stumps.
Disagree, I reckon it would have knocked over middle stump, but didn't it hit him outside off??

Anyway we can't complain, NZ benefitted from about 4 questionable decisions at Eden Park.

Im not one to mull over poor or questionable lbw decisions anymore as they're part & parcel of the game.

But the fact was that Ntini was bowling well wide of the crease, the ball swung in a long long way & Papps was playing a shot..so not out in my opinion.

Isolator - I'm not an expert and I'd like a much better look, but Bond's new action looks like it is just a few subtle modifications. That big load-up where he raises his forearms above his head seems to have been altered, and he seemed to be bowling a little more side-on.

That last session was awesome. Even with that annoyingly familiar beer-smokes-chips smell hitting me in the face at 60kph all day, it was the best atmosphere you'll get at a test in NZ.

Tim was right in saying it was a pretty frustrating day for the BC's, but I think it shows the whole side is heading in the right direction when they have a significant change in surface, several dopey dismissals, 2 dubious LB's, and restrict the damage to 248/6.

When I mention the surface, that's just my impression from the number of times batsmen were beaten for pace, particularly on cut shots. Coming straight from Lincoln would've been an advantage for Sinclair I think, rather than the sluggish Eden Park.

SA know this pitch is more up their alley and that they can't keep claiming bad luck, poor form, or an opposition that's ambushed them by "playing above themselves". It gave Nel and the whole SA attack a more competitive look, and from a neutral point of view, it's a pity NZ only have to be batting when the rain arrives tomorrow for the result of the series to seem almost beyond doubt.

Yeah, McCullum's was definately out...but Sinclair & Papps can be disappointed.

I know there's been alot of talk about Matt Sinclair recently, a few people (and they know who they are) have said he's not good enough for international cricket. But he CLEARLY showed today that if he's seeing the ball well he's as good as most of the other batsmen around.

A shame he couldn't go on, but in the context he played out an important knock.
Your right Tim - he batted with definite maturity and I was impressed by the way he played. His foot movement still worried me though.

I'd like to see the 'new' Sincalir in another few matches yet before reaching a final decision.

For the record - I never said he wasn't good enough.

His footwork is always going to be a problem, and today's innings doesn't necessarily suggest he won't ever struggle again but I thought he showed more maturity than he has previously.

I thought he dug himself a rather large hole today..something like 2 runs off 35 balls, but he came back nicely in the end..I think ending with 74 off 180 balls. So he can accelerate & proved that by hitting a couple of good sixes.

Sinclair perhaps balances the NZ side a bit better, providing he bats more like he did today on a more regular basis.

We've got a number of aggressive players like Styris, Cairns, Oram & McCullum..but I think Sinclair batting at 4 or 5 just offers a bit more stability because he's prepared to be more patient.

Hi all.... I have been searching for live audio for the NZ v SA series without any success... I cannot find a live webcast for Radio Sport in NZ, has anyone found live coverage???? Many thanks..
radiosport.co.nz doesn't stream live because of the rights issues they have with most of our major sports. I think all you could do is go here, select the day and time you want in NZT, and either download commentary in 15 minute .wma files, or listen "live" to the ones on the right of those. At best you'd be about 20 minutes behind.

As consolation, the link below (I've selected 'Friday' and '17.30-17.45'), gives you the last 10 minutes of today's play and a bit of a summary I imagine. You'll also get to chuckle at NZ ads, many for agricultural products. :)

As a competitive series it was a total waste of time.

As a means of match practise it wasn't.

IMO Sinclair's effort today with having only 1 hour notice can be called outstanding - it's a helluva different mind set to prepare for a Test as opposed to an 'A' series match in a dead rubber.............then to come in early & provide the anchor role was well done indeed..............I think he is better suited in coming at 4 with Styris at 5 & he can provide the same sort of service that Marshall is doing for the ODI side.............

McMillan must be looking over his shoulder & becoming slightly nervous regarding his long term Test career - with Sinclair coming in & doing well, Astle due back from injury & Vincent in scoring form in the middle order.................and he's got buckly's of dislodging Styris even with today's effort................

perhaps in Cairns does retire from Test cricket now that he has his 200 / 3000, it will open up a batting berth at 6 - but he will still need to fight for it...........

I also thought McCullum also did well today.............

Very Interesting .... Personally I am an avid photographer. However I have yet to get involved in digital photography as I have already invested quite a bit on my SLR.(Minolta 9xi)

The Camara that you will get for your b'day looks quite impressive indeed .... does it have the caperbility for interchangable lenses ?

For cricket I mostly use my 300mm zoom lense with a 2x coverter with ISO 400 fuji film for spectacular color contrast.

Do digital camaras come with a "depth of view prewiew" ???

I dont think the camera has capability for lens change.. My dad has an SLR for that...

Personally I am happy with 10X optical zoom lens which I will be using most of the time...

One feature I love is "burst photo" mode.. Where it takes lots of pictures very quickly... Ideal for getting the trademark "stump out of the ground shot"

Yeah ...that's a great feature and you can get some prectacular shots ... but i have to use it with a auto film loader which i regretfully dont have. The 9 xi goes at 4.5 frames per second so a regular 36 roll film will last only seconds.

There is a feature known as "exposure braketing" and "flash braketing" which I use quite often when I occasionally take pictures after consuming alcohol .... the "braketing" feature makes sure that even if you are not in the best of conditions you still can take perfect pictures
