*Official* South Africa in New Zealand

Shane Bond is playing club cricket today, but will only bowl a maximum of 8 overs..lets just hope he has a successful comeback.

I read in the paper today that Bond & Jeff Wilson recently spent 3 days in the US developing new cricket shoes with Nike.

Wow!

Of the 16 times NZ has past 500, 5 have been in their last 8 completed innings. That's without any Zimbabwe or Bangladesh games either.

Well, well.......South Africa must be reeling from this batting by the Kiwi's.:O 8/584 at the end of the day!

Well done to Scott Styris for his 170 and Chris Cairns (magnificent player, if only he wasn't plagued by injury) for his 158. Bad luck for Jacob Oram, getting out on 90.

Go the Kiwi's!

I missed most of today's play thanks to club cricket, but the batting from Cairns & Oram must have been awesome.

They are both proving me wrong at the moment.

NZ 'A' have carried on their merry way also.

Jamie How & Matt Bell both getting 92. Sinclair got 50 & Vincent is 61*

336/3 at stumps.

Welcome to Test cricket Mr Graeme Smith.

The rubbish bowling from Pakistan, England, Bangladesh and the West Indies.

He hasnt been pushed as much as captain or as player until he arrived in New Zealand. Apart from Australia, I think this is one team they want to beat (South Africa) considering the big rivalry between the two nations.

He is on the verge of losing this by an innings or conceding enough runs to lose by an innings.

How will he respond.

I think a lead of 300 will be enough and I predict Fleming to declare with a 300 run lead. He will have plenty of time to dissmiss the South Africans.

Well put Craig. I couldn't agree more, I think Graeme Smith will get found out as a captain and as a batsman.

I would love nothing more than to see New Zealand absolutely hammer South Africa in this game and hopefully the series.

Apart from 2 50s in the ODIs and 1 Test 50 to date in this Test series he hasnt much.

Fleming has played with Graeme Smith in this series in the captaincy battle.

It still will be tough to bowl the South Africans out. No doubt about that.

The conditions helped us the other day, but there shouldn't be a cloud in the sky for the next 2 days.

Craig, the rubbish bowling from Pakistan? The side we got bowled out for 100? Get real mate.

how could u call a pakistani attack of akhtar, sami and shabbir as rubbish??i rate them higher than ur nz attack which seems to be good only when the ball seams around!
he just scored 88 in this match and his performances in the ODIs(72,80,43,37,15,9) werent bad so give him a break here. he might not be a good captain but he has done nothing wrong with the bat so far

Craig posted,

The rubbish bowling from Pakistan...

Smith's a good enough captain, obviously not in the Cronje league, but still good enough.

And for the record, this rubbish Pakistan bowling beat both SA and NZ in test series, SA at home and NZ in NZ.

So what do you call the Test match at Cape Town in 2003 where South Africa scored over 400 runs in a day? Yep good bowling

That is the Test I am reffering to do and that is a big difference to the attack that played in New Zealand.

Sami is inconsistent and erratic. I'm not convinced on Shabbir

Beleg I'm referring to South Africa v Pakistan in South Africa in 02/03. South Africa won 2-0.

Pakistan won in New Zealand due to a good spell of bowling.

I said rubbish bowling, I have never once said the line-up was rubbish.

Please go back and look and read.

Don't worry about it.

Graeme Smith's grip on the captaincy is stronger than Craig's grip on reality:D .

Test cricket has a fickle way of going in cycles, but there are a few consistencies, viz...

Australia's dominance, Pakistani inconsistency, Steve Harmison's form...........

What we've got at the moment is a fine New Zealand batting lineup - someone mentioned the frequency of New Zealand achieving scores in excess of 500 - but big scores do not necessarily win games - just look at those games where NZ made over 500 and count the wins.

what makes u think this nz bowling attack(without bond) is so good? tuffey has struggled on pitches that havent offered much, oram is nothing more than ordinary, chris martin has only played well one game and cairns is no longer the bowler that he used to be.believe me the south africans would anyday take this nz attack over the pakistani attack

This is what I said:

I said Pakistan bowled rubbish, I never said they were rubbish

Bowling rubbish is different to saying they are rubbish.

And your perfectaly entitled to your opinion.

I made the comment back to 02-03 as he had hammered some rubbish bowling in his career. Just like the Bangladesh reference.

BTW it is New Zealand.

By any chance have you seen any of today's play?
