*Official* South Africa in New Zealand

I dearly hope the South Africans get their butts kicked in NZ.....New Zealand deserve so much more than they are getting.

151 from Butler?

Sadly this guy hasn't updated any speeds for a while, although it's really Butler's normal speed of high 130's that is the more important figure.

I hope SOuth Africa's top 4 doesnt do well, and I hope Neil McKenzie makes big 150. He's a good player and if anybody in the SA team deserves a big ton it is him.

i havent seen nel bowl over 138 in new zealand. i think butlers top speed was 151 in the basin test.
What the hell? Nel was consistently hitting the high 130s and low 140s in the Test. He bowled around 2 an over at 145+.

Couldn't agree more...although I would like to see Kallis break Bradman's record of consecutive tests scoring 100s.

I wouldn't mind seeing Cairns doing well with the bat. It would be nice to see him pass 3000 with a century or seomthing like that.

Well I don't know too much about the pitch, but from what I've heard it'll be far more enjoyable for the pace bowlers, but the batsmen will also enjoy it if they are willing to be patient with the new ball.
just read that they considered changing the pitch for the test as it is of the same clay base as the 1st test pitch - expecting a little early life and then to flatten out & strong possibility that it may not produce a result - they even approached RSA & got the ok but Sneddon said no as it's too close to the match.............

seems to me that we are likely to see another slow / low wicket that won't really do anything for anyone except test their patience..........

Despite the 1st inings total I'm still concerned that we only have 5 specialist batsmen in the test lineup...I'd rather see a middle order batsman who can bowl a bit of slow / spin, rather than a 3rd/4th specialist bowling option when we already have Tuffey, Oram, Cairns, Styris, Vettori, McMillan..........

likewise Vettori's lack of penetration is now begining to place him in the same grouping as Cairns & McMillan re performance & justificaton for selection..................

Butler will probably get the nod ahead of Martin as he has played in the last 2 series & they seem to be happy with his efforts to date..........if he does he'll need to show more variety than just banging it in back of a length.................

Hehehe well there you have it...

I would like to see big runs from either Kallis or Kirsten... Kallis is IMO the worlds best batsman, and it would be nice to see him ranked as such, the only way to achieve this is sheer weight of runs :) And Gazza deserves a fitting swansong....

just read that Martin's in the team & Butler & Wiseman to play for the 'A' side.................

I hope he does well in his comeback - but a bowler too many for me....................

So the starting team is:

Richardson
Papps
Fleming
Styris
McMillan
Cairns
Oram
McCullum
Vettori
Tuffey
Martin

There's nothing wrong with too many bowlers as long as it doesn't harm the batting strength.

Welcome back Anzac. I see Mingster bought into my croc idea! :)

A bowler too many?! Are we doing a Wellington and playing for draws now?

Bumping Vettori down to 10 would be mad unless you're taking 20 wickets regularly. NZ hasn't won a test for 15 months.

I'm not so sure that whoever wins the toss will bat first...I think if there is any hope of making in-roads it's today while there's some seam movement on offer.
