No it isn't.

He bowled well at the death when it mattered, and the last two balls didn't, because the game was already won.

Did you not see his last two overs? Perfect yorkers.
good yorkers yes,Full tosses above shoulder height (hit for six)NO.

I think he thought "well the games pretty much won, lets have some fun" or something.

or maybe the ball just slipped.

Mingster's right. You've got to think alternatives before going at someone with an axe.

I've often seen Tuffey bowl more junk at the death than Mills (Tuffey has to fight his natural rythym to bowl that full), but he's just fortunate not to have had a really embarrassing over yet. Only that no-ball 7 was a complete 'mare of a delivery.

Speaking of 'mares, what happened to the all the journalists' "one man band" today? A dubious duck, two dropped catches, and we still win!

why the hell did dippenaar come in to bat before boucher or pollock???the reason that SA lost is probably cause they didnt get pollock in to bat at all !!morkel sucks

I think SA lost because they sent their best pinch hitter,Klusener,in too early. They should have waited till the higher batsmen had set a base, instead of throwing him into the game after that first (brilliant)catch by harris.

Morkel maybe too,and also not letting pollock bat (expecially against mills  )led to their demise in this game.

It's a good shot to hit a shoulder high full toss or six without getting your bloke knocked off, and plus it is a no-ball.

Is Papps injured or why didnt he play?

Wow, well I was at the game today & there was alot of agro going on between players & even rival fans.

After Kallis had argued with McCullum, he came over to field where I was sitting in the south stand & a spectator came down & said "How's your average going Kallis?" and Kallis went absolutely nuts at him & even shook his fist at him...it'll be interesting to see if that escapes the match referee.

Graeme Smith really has shown his true colours now...I thought it was too good to be true that when he arrived here he was relatively relaxed. It's safe to say Smith & Fleming won't be the best of buddies now.

As far as the match went..I thought 195 was going to be too short, but in the end South Africa blew it I thought..they batted far too slowly for awhile there.

Harris was brilliant today & it looks as though he's lifted his game..Fleming was useless in the field, much like his efforts in the first ODI.

So... Harris stays for the next one, I hope? McMillan should step aside, I think. "Form" doesn't seem to exist for him... one day he's good, the other, he isn't.

D/L takes no account of how long your batting line-up is, or how good the batsman are that have been dismissed.
It can't do everything!!!

And in a way it does include quality of batsmen dismissed, since it's taken into account matches played in the past with pinch hitters

Sounds like a storm in a tea cup to me - I would have thought that the match referee would be looking at what goes on in the middle.

That wasn't really a gripe, just more making note of something. I only thought about it when South Africa lost 4 overs and were only given about 18 less to chase.

Obviously D/L's involvement will always have a bit of a "let's make it.." feel to it, and if the teams were prepared to play from 10.30 and eventually finished at 7.15, I don't really see why they can't just keep going more often.

At tennis tournaments they don't say "let's not see Agassi v. Federer go past 7pm". I think the players have to be ready to go as soon as centre court is cleared until the match reaches a natural conclusion. Cricket chooses to be more about convenience and TV schedules, which is fair enough if tests remain the real deal to most fans.

Klusenser did have to keep swinging. WHen the got to 36/1 off after 4 overs, all they had to do was settle down a little, keep the score ticking over, then start swinging a bit later on. Why Smith was brought in Morkel is a mystery to me.

Also what was the Fleming Smith agrument about???

No. Sending Klusener in was the right move, and if you watched the game you would have seen how he lifted the run rate single-handley.

However, sending Morkel in was a mistake. You can't expect a man in his 2nd match, to start slogging the well-performed NZ attack to all parts of the ground.

How did not sending Pollock lead to their defeat? It didn't.

And it was a bloody disgrace how the Umpires asked for the rope to go around the ground, when obviously there wasn't any moisture on the ground. It was only 3 minutes of drizzle.

That decision make SA's chance ever harder.

I didn't mean that.I meant that good yorkers by mills are good, shoulder high full tosses arent.

If mills was trying to give me a heart attack,he did a bloody good job.

Klusener really went ballistic on New Zealand, but he should've just settled down, but he was on a roll,so just kept on going and going and out.

Unfortunately for Papps, the selectors had to make room for Harris & he was the unlucky player to miss out.

I think in the next match, Papps should come back in for McMillan & i'd like to see Mason replace Mills.

Tim

Cricketer Of The Year
Well Harris will definately play tommorow because McMillan is not playing because of family commitments.

Is it really serious or just wedding stuff?

If i was McMilan i would play without doubt. His spot is under scrutiny and he decides to take a day off. I am quite suprised.

Tim

Cricketer Of The Year
Yeah it must be pretty serious for him to give up his place in the team...it has to be, because surely McMillan would be well aware that he's the one most likely to lose his place at the moment.

In a fullstrength side, McMillan would miss out, definitely:

Fleming, Papps, Astle, Marshall, Styris, Cairns, Oram, McCullum, Vettori, Tuffey, Bond.

It just looks so dam right. :D

Papps has been instrumental in this series so far, he has put on 3 decent 45+ partnerships with Fleming out of 4, and he offers a solid option at the top for us.

Even though it's early days, Papps has looked fairly comfortable against the likes of Pollock, Ntini & co for the majority of the time he's spent at the crease.

He'll definately be more productive than the likes of Vincent & Cumming because a) he moves his feet & b) he looks to have the confidence to play some shots.
