I hear Boult is injured now? Jesus, you have the decent beginnings of a cricket team from players unlikely/not going to play the next test. AB and Steyn is already a huge loss, and Taylor and Boult are 2 of NZs top 4 players.

just reading back through the thead, it's pretty grim reading. almost a case for Guptill's recall solely on "someone who will catch the ball" alone. Not surprised Jeets has been filler.

i've said this for about 12 months but jurgenson and whoever the fielding coach is are terrible. kane's baby captain mistakes would be hidden much better if our bowlers had the discipline they had under bond and the fielding we had under mccullum.

Incidentally, is Cook really the other best opener in SA? Seems to need an incredible amount of luck to score decent runs from what I've seen of him.
He is a good opener, he is just one of those guys with his own technique... statistically he is the best opener for SA. We have tried some other batsmen as openers (poor van Zyl) but stopped doing that. There is a youngster with great potential (Markram) we hope to see in the opening role within 18 months or so, don`t expect Cook to last longer than that realistically.

NZ may have squandered half a dozen chances between poor fielding and poor DRSing, but South Africa's glacial scoring means there is still a chance of all three results if NZ can take the last wickets tomorrow morning.
