Saffers just won a gold medal over the Brits in rowing.

Oooooooooooooooh
What was Australia doing!? Ahhh so annoying...faded so bad at the end. Amazing from the Saffas though. Really feels like the purple patch for SA in sport in general atm.

Oh yeah, I'm absolutely certain he's doing it deliberately. He just loves being denied well-earned wickets.
I am not saying he's doing it deliberately...all I wanted to say is anyone else with half a brain would be very clear of the stumps after that.

That's my issue.
Nah, that's rubbish.

It's like the danger zone rule, a couple of times and a quiet word, but then you get the official warning out.

The other thing to remember is that it would be distracting for the umpire as well.

I remember Nick Knight waxing lyrical about how good a slip fielder Trott was not long ago. Now I don't really want to take Nick Knight's word for it but if he's even a third as good as Knight reckons then he's better than Cook.
Haha, Atherton confirms.

Nah he's still on my list; deeming that as a distraction when it happens so regularly in cricket is absolutely bull**** IMO.
I think there's a bit of a difference. I mean, he called the 3rd time it happened in a spell. That's not regular at all.

Have to say, I'm not going to comment on the selection, as I'm likely to do a Scaly-style rant, going to watch the Olympics :(

Nah I can see where this is coming from. The law doesn't specifically say that it's dead ball if the bowler knocks the stumps down; it says it's a dead ball if it's distracting. I can definitely see the argument that it's not distracting if it happens once or twice randomly but if it keeps happening and the batsman makes the umpire aware he's being distracted, then it's deemed distracting.

Personally I think the batsman should have to deal with it, but I don't think the consistency thing really is at the crux of the matter.
This.

To add to Cribb's Law 23 explanation, I quote Law 42, the most annoying of all laws.

42.2. Fair and unfair play - responsibility of umpires
The umpires shall be the sole judges of fair and unfair play. If either umpire considers an action, not covered by the Laws, to be unfair he shall intervene without appeal and, if the ball is in play, call and signal Dead ball and implement the procedure as set out in 18 below. Otherwise umpires shall not interfere with the progress of play without appeal except as required to do so by the Laws.
Could also be Davis' incorrect recollection of Law 23.4 Section b Clause IV
23.4. Umpire calling and signalling Dead ball
(b) Either umpire shall call and signal Dead ball when
(iv) one or both bails fall from the striker’s wicket before the striker has had the opportunity of playing the ball.

The decent deliveries we've bowled to Petersen he's looked all over the place, shame we can't bowl more/take catches.
