I have no problem with him knocking 1s and 2s, but why did he waste time earlier today?
Probably to ensure that South Africa did at least have something to bowl at. After all, Prince, Boucher and Pollock etc are bangers if they want to be but equally they can drop like flies too

They were only 3 wickets down then, the only significant risk was Kallis' batting average taking a small dent.
The possibility of a both ends losing wickets out at that stage could mean RSA would not be able to take as much risk later on (as we see now they intended to bat longer)..

time to bring back one of the seamers methinks...

edit, they have declared 287 to win if Australia get a good solid start i reckon they may go for it, if not just bat safely for the remainder of the day,

They still had 7 wickets left, if you lose a couple of wickets you then think about slowing down, you don't just slow down first.

To avoid the situation of having to slow down latter on and collapse to a much lower total than you have in mind its much more sensible to keep one end safer - agression from both ends at that stage could lead to a collapse - RSA was with a lead of 186. They could be facing 210/6 and all out for 230-240. Some thing RSA wasnt bargaining for.

I find this incredibly harsh - how can it be dissent? The guy's just angry at the dropped catch, and surely that's justified? My on field language is atrocious and tbh, I don't really see the problem with it...
Thats what i thought aswell. If they reprimanded McGrath for a bit of foul language then why didn't they reprimand Gibbs for what he was muttering to himself as he left the field after being run-out... pretty harsh imo.

How bloody annoying is Ian Chappell? Talk about repeating oneself!! The guy bangs on and on about how selfish Kallis is being, yet today (with a debilitating elbow injury) he was repeatedly reverse sweeping Warne out of the rough and scored a respectable 36 off 52. Yet, he fails to criticise Australia for setting such negative field placings both today and, more damningly, yesterday when they had South Africa in trouble at the start of play. These commentators just love getting stuck into the overseas teams.

Swing first ball for Langeveldt. :)

He has been very impressive(in the first inning) with the line plus the support of the swing and hopefully he starts a collapse.

I love it when they turn the stump mic up.

If i was Smith I would have batted for 1 more over. Pollock was smashing it and they could have got to 300 ahead.

Taylor: What makes Hampshire such a good county?
Nichloas: Terrific place to play.

Huge chuckle from the back ground, probably Greig.

Superb deicison by Bowden. Looked like inside edge first.

Slash and miss from Langer on Pollock next on - you dont want to get out like that!

Its such a tense match going..
