So who bowls when the ball is 14-25 overs old?
In the second innings, Warne can bowl then.

So, basically, that leaves ONE five over spell for ONE bowler. Im sure Ponting/Hussey could get away with bowling a five over spell once a game.

Warne and MacGill have to play together in Sydney and for that to happen I think you need a third seamer. Unless there's another option I think they'll have to persist with Symonds. Could they bat Gilchrist at 6 and have Warne-Lee as 7 and 8? With Gilly's current form I doubt it but that's a possibility.
Wouldn't lose much by losing Symonds from the order though!

Not the best use - and certainly not the attack I'd want in all conditions.

Just wondering what people do if they in South Africa's situation and have to bat for a draw?

I would say the best tatic is to forget about the target and bat normally and also to look positive. If you are just out there to survive it will just mean you will bore yourself out and get out. Unless your name is Chris Tavare.

Well, my strike rate this season is about 10, so I normally just play my natural game in those circumstances, as its slow enough! I normally get a promotion in that situation, actually...

YES! Great ball by Bracken, gets him again. Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppp.

Because I can put this here, on Saturday I made 23 and took 2/36 as we won by 6 runs. Best victory ever.

Bracken to be on yet another hat-trick? :p

SA going at just 2 rpo.
It's a bit ironic that this return to old-school attritional Test cricket comes at the WACA of all places.

As usual Ponting thinks he's bigger than the game itself. Spitting the dummy again to the umpires, the point is it was stupid to bat on as long as they did. That was Pontings mistake. Like in England, when he was runout by the sub fielder, Ponting blames everyone else for his own mistakes. I've never seen a Captain that moans so much to the umpires when anything doesn't go his way. Can't believe what he gets away with!! :@

Brad Hodge.

Quality batter, no personality?
Who needs personality when you can smack 203* against SA?
Question is: what does he bowl?
Ponting wanted to use him to be able to continue with Warne from the other end in the fading light.

Personality...hah...ask Jacques Kallis what use a personality is

Getting the 8 remaining wickets should be no problem tomorrow, with Warne already getting plenty of turn at times. No reason to whine for Punter.

I agree Ponting is a spoilt brat at times. For that reason alone I wouldn't mind Rudolph waking up tomorrow and thinking he's playing Bangladesh.

Hahah, caaaaaaalm down. It`s just funny, every time I`ve heard him speak, it`s always been about himself and in a monotonal voice. We love Aussie characters.

I'll say. Geez if I found out I had to listen to that slow, monotone voice for a whole three month tour of England, I'd suffocate or muzzle the bloke after the tour opener! And every answer is so damn politically correct. When is someone going to come out and say "yeah I was hoping (insert name of incumbent) failed, as I really wanted to make my debut". Or "geez these Baggygreens are a ridiculous looking thing".

With Warne, Merv and Dean Jones all coming out of Victoria, its about time we produced a mild mannered player. :p

btw, after today Hodge has the highest Test batting average of the current Australia team. Bye bye Hussey :)
