Just flicking through 5 of England's top 7 (the guys with the most caps) - I notice they all average around the same or significantly worse than their career average when winning the toss & batting. You'd think it would be 5-10 runs higher if anything because it should be the best times to bat. Is there a list of England totals somewhere where they've won the toss and batted? I suspect it will be a fairly **** list.

I went to see us play Sri Lanka on day 1 at Lords in 2011. We were 3 down in half an hour but ended the day 300-odd for 6, with Prior and Broad hitting fifties. Only difference is the opposition attack included Welegedara, Lakmal and Maharoof...
OK, expect England to be 3/300 at stumps then, can't match those greats...
