There aren't many sides around the world where the more experienced players get dumped for rookies, unless they are in a major form slump or the rookie is just so good they demand being selected.

It happens quite a bit in Bangladesh from what i hear, i read somewhere the average age of the sqauds is about 23. Pretty much anyone that makes U19 level gets fast tracked. But thats just Bangladesh.

Btw, with all the talk of rookies and how many are in the system, I wonder if someone (AKA Liam) could find out what the average career span of a Dev league player is? Because it seems more like an American Footballers than a First Class Cricketers length of career.

Seems to me that, aside from two ODI players who are just having a bad season, everything is pretty much as you want it. The experience system that has been introduced is working quite well, at least in A-List

The mere fact I've all along been talking about Tests renders all ODI talk irrelevant.

Looking at the FC, the last time I checked only four rookies made the top 40 bats, so I don't know what the big deal is there.

Maybe if you looked at what I am talking about rather than what you want to think I'm talking about?

But yes, although last season I tended to agree (although was never as whiney as you are, and actually bothered to produce solutions rather than merely complaincomplaincomplain)

IIRC I had a lot of dialogue talking to people about the solutions, so I didn't just complain...

This thread already makes me cry tbh. I look at the blues scorecards, realise I haven't been selected, and then cry. Then I pick myself up, tell myself that patience is a virtue and that my day in the sun will be just around the corner and then the next game arrives and I check the scorecard, see that I haven't made the team and I cry some more.

It's a vicious cycle.

Don't worry. In my debut season (was it Season 5?) I got dropped for a large part of it and came out of it with a bowling average of 40 or something or something.

Exactly, and thats my point.

We have to find a balance between realism and keeping new players interested.

If they arent getting a game, the chances of them coming back for the following season are much slimmer.
