yay and yay, both probably would have been picked and neither would deserve it...howardj said:Ross and Flannery both out of Origin contention with injuries.
Shillington a QLDers, what the heck is going on, all the good rookies are QLDers or Kiwisbroncoman said:yay and yay, both probably would have been picked and neither would deserve it...
if David Stagg and Corey Parker keep up their form they are both a chance of playing for qld i think... Shillington from the Roosters is another who could be a bolter...

yeh i posted that in the test thread, im excited that hunt could play in the test, i think this year he's gonna step up andbe a real superstar, in the past 4 or 5 games we have seen what hes capable of, it looks like minichiello will play, but its nice for Hunt to be in the squad...howardj said:
They'd be passionate about it, if they were there on the night though.broncoman said:cant say i agree, theres always gonna be plenty of players who are passionate about it and have given great service to the concept, i dont think we want people playing origin that dont particularly want to be there...
Not really making it look worse than it is. There are six guys (named above) that were available last year, but not available this year. That's too many. I mean, guys like Gidley and Barrett are allowed to make themselves unavailable - that's crazy.broncoman said:Johns has played Origin for 10 years and you cant say he hasnt been a good servant to the game. i've got no problem with these guys retiring from rep football, ur just making it look worse than it is because of the injury/suspension problems we are facing this year...
Yeah but the fact that players of that quality and who are that young - Gidley and Barrett - can be unavailable (regardless of whether they are among the first XVII) is not a good thing. I can see Origin, in a few years, not being the jewel in the league crown, which it should be.broncoman said:Gidley sucks and wouldnt be picked because all 4 outside backs for australia are from NSW. Kennedy has also done enough to warrant not having to be selected anymore. Bowman wouldnt make the qld side now either. Webcke didnt play last year, so he doesnt really count.
again i disagree, i thought it was great Joey and BK wanted to go out in test football, which is the pinacle of the game and it should be. While we all love the Origin concept and currently its the highest level available it will be a great day when playing for Australia is again considered a higher honour than playing Origin.howardj said:Yeah but the fact that players of that quality and who are that young - Gidley and Barrett - can be unavailable (regardless of whether they are among the first XVII) is not a good thing. I think the players have always considered it a higher honour, even though they know it's not a higher standard of football. This could soon change, if the slack little buggers continue to treat Origin like an inconvenience.broncoman said:again i disagree, i thought it was great Joey and BK wanted to go out in test football, which is the pinacle of the game and it should be. Tate will be there, for sure.broncoman said:my team as of tonight is
1 Hunt 2 Inglis 3 Hodges 4 Bell 5 Tate 6 Lockyer 7 Thurston 8 Civonicea 9 C Smith 10 Price 11 Johnson 12 Parker 13 Harrison
Reserves
14 Shillington 15 Myles 16 Tronc 17 Bowen
Crocker's impending suspension hurts a lot and im not convinced Harrison is playing well enough to be picked, ive completed changed my backline from my last prediction, but Tate will be picked if hes fit and Bell has done enough in my books to be picked...
