Jericho has had a remarkable couple of years. The Piper and now Steamboat promo's were everything we want from Pro Wrestling. Fantastic entertainment without insulting anyone's intelligence and not pandering to the lowest common denominator.

I hope the guy gets the appreciation he deserves for being able to thrive with a high brow gimmick in this generation of wrestling.
Yeah, Jericho is pretty much the best in the business these days when it comes to promo work. He's yet to have a really epic match against anyone other than Shawn Michaels since his return in late 2007, but his promo work has been incredible.

On another note, RAW scored a second straight 4.1 rating last night, which is a phenomenal effort from WWE. To notch their highest rating in two years and then equal it the next week is a great boon for the company ahead of the biggest WrestleMania in a long time. We've still (hopefully) got the return to TV of Steve Austin to look forward to, so I reckon ratings might jump yet again when that happens - even more so if Hulk Hogan decides to make an appearance.

It's been a great time to follow the WWE product at the moment and they truly are at the top of their game. I can't remember a time when the shows used to be this good on a consistent basis. Great work by the WWE to get so many fans interested before Wrestlemania.

Just finished watching ECW and the title match between Jack Swagger and Christian. Now that was a title match! Swagger and Christian have a great chemistry together and they really stole the show. It's probably one of the best TV matches I've seen in a long time.

What was great was that the crowd were really into the match. Christian got one of the loudest reactions I've ever heard and Swagger got great heat as well. Credit to both for delivering a great match. Put them both in an Extreme Rules match or a Last Man Standing match at Wrestlemania and watch both of them steal the show.

It's not 4.1 million viewers, it's a 4.1 rating. I'm not sure how the ratings are calculated, but last week's show actually gained 5.9 million viewers, so there's not an exact correlation. Very impressive effort from WWE.
Oh yeah I know that they have a silly system, but IIRC Raw's peak in popularity between 99-01 generally drew between 5 and 6, so 4.1 in these days of wrestling being much less popular, not too shabby at all

Watched this match last night. So, so impressed. Christian continues to be one of the best workers in the business, and Swagger gets better all the time. His shoulderbreaker-turnbuckle slam-shoulderbreaker-powerslam combo in the match against Christian was just insane. I expect him to be a World Heavyweight or WWE Champion by the time WrestleMania 26 rolls around. If Kurt Angle does return to WWE once his TNA contract is done, Swagger vs Angle would be incredible.

Disagree so much. I said it about six months ago, and will say it again - he's just not entertaining any more. Every promo is the same - you're all hypocrites, blah blah blah.

Piper and Steamboat have made the promos so far for mine - not Jericho.

This calls into question what constitutes a good promo, though. He might not entertain you, but there have been countless guys in the history of the business who've gotten over on the basis of numerous very similar promos.

Also, he's playing a character at the moment that relies on a steadfast belief in his own greatness and a distaste for the fans, it's natural that he'd make the same point repeatedly. Look at his past variations on his gimmick, he's shown he can do other stuff in his promo work. It's just the case that his current heel character doesn't give him the opportunity to do much beyond run down the fans, put himself over, and insult his opponents - which, TBH, is pretty much what's expected of a good heel anyway.

I hate all the promotional crap I keep seeing for 12 Rounds all over the place. John Cena looks like such a freak in a police uniform. Not that anything about it has compelled me to want to watch it so far, but just the stills of him in the car in his police uniform make me not want to watch the film. He looks like he's getting ready to entertain a bunch of drunk middle aged women at a dodgy party.

Glad to see you on this thread mate. You should come by more often and contribute as CW fans are probably the best on the net to discuss WWE or TNA with.

HBK is good but Christian is better. You can't go wrong with the Captain.

FFS. I've been watching RAW and typed out all my thoughts at length as I did so, only to accidentally close the window instead of just another tab, and lose it all. :@

The Orton-Triple H promo was out of this world, the Cena-Edge match was great, and I marked out for Edge using the Edgecator again. Big Show has been announced as the Number One Contender for WrestleMania...could we be getting Cena vs Hogan after all? I can't help but hope so. Either that or Cena enters MITB, wins, and cashes in on the night to regain his title.

Oh, and HBK-Kozlov sucked. Hard. I'm a huge HBK fan, but I hate his "tuning up the band" finish, I just hate it. Every time he finishes a match with the same minute-long combination of moves, I cringe.

Overall, a really top class episode of RAW, once again. I wouldn't be surprised if this beats out the last two weeks in terms of ratings.

Haha, seen that a few times. Was tempted of posting it on here but there a lot of guys who mark for Christian so didn't want to piss them off.

I remember watching that!

Well Christian was working with Scott Steiner, a guy that even Triple H struggled to get a good match out of. Christian carried Steiner for most of that match if I remember and the match itself wasn't too bad. That spot though was hilarious.

To me, it's more Steiner's fault than Christian's. Christian would have had to move his head anyway, Steiner just stood there with his hands stretched out like an idiot.

It's generally up to the guy holding to audible which even someone as ******** as Steiner could do surely. Christian was premature there IMO.
