I'm not sure how you can have Reigns that far up. He's been a very long failure by almost any measure...? even if you do like him personally, he's flopped for so long...

The WON Wrestler of the Year awards (which is essentially the top guys in the business across all companies, as opposed to the 'Outstanding Wrestler') is not a pretty picture. He's not been in the top 10 any year. This is supposed to be WWE's ace and no-one cares if he's there or not.

Reigns is a bit like diet Cena imo. He absolutely gets the biggest reactions even if a lot of the smarkier audience is digging the boot into him. That said where I placed Reigns is where the enjoyment of that “top guy era” takes a deep dive. I more think of him as undeniably being the #1 of his era and the build to his matches being important than those below him.

Haha I definitely do enjoy the latter albeit not as much as you do. I’m definitely a bit of an idiot in that I quite enjoy the dumber soap opera aspects of wrestling quite a lot as well.

So far this feels like a huge mistake and I mostly just feel bad for the wrestlers? They're clearly trying their best to make it work but it doesn't.

Yep, I'm with you on that. It's really weird. Comms are doing their best to hype it up, but wrestling really needs the crowd to help it.

I thought maybe they'd try something radical with production and I suppose we may see it with the more bizarre matches like Wyatts or Takers but this mostly feels like recent Raw or Smackdowns with slightly better wrestling.

The match itself was actually decent, but yeah it does feel off. Kairi basically gave away the result with her entrance too, the most unenthusiastic walk ever.

That's true, think we just have to wait for some of the gimmicky matches. Potential unpopular opinion, just thinking about it with King Corbin coming out for his match...end of days is the best finisher going around today.

WWE have waaaaaaay too many roll up finishes. Shock roll up early in a match? Alright, if you're building somewhere. Roll up after a cool reversal during an absolute slug fest where neither can put the other way? Can work. Roll up by a huge underdog? Sure.

But fricken Elias vs Corbin? Two "evenly" matched guys? It just makes Elias victory meaningless.
