That was the best episode of RAW in a long time. Didn't feel like it dragged at all, we had some fantastic matches which ended in the correct result. Sacha as champ is awesome, and Finn vs Rollins is going to be incredible. Although the Universal Championship is a terrible name.

Has anyone ever had a debut like that? Beating the guy who was the champion a month ago in a number 1 contender's match for a title shot at Summerslam? Insane.

Also loved how they did that finish. Big counter-> Big move-> Finisher-> Pin. No delay, all in one smooth sequence.

It was a bit similar in the Sami-KO match too.

I really don't think NXT era debuts are comparable to those in the past. There might have been quite a few guys over the years, if DSW/OVW/early FCW had been televised and built up to the degree NXT has been, who'd have been sufficiently over to do that.

I find it hard to call it a 'debut' when Finn has been on WWE TV, including as a major champion, for so long.

Tbf I'd guess that the majority of the mainstream WWE audience won't watch NXT regularly.
I think the mainstream WWE audience are a hell of a lot more clued in than they once were. And sure, while there's a lot of people going "who the **** is Finn Balor?" right now, there's almost certainly a metric shitton more thinking "**** YEAH FINN BALOR" than for when, say, CM Punk (or any other indie guy who went to WWE pre-NXT) popped up to begin with.

Plus, with how hard the WWE push the Network, I wouldn't be surprised if quite a few 'casuals' have seen bits and pieces of NXT while messing around with their free month.

I mean, I'd happily wager that more 'mainstream' WWE fans watch NXT than NJPW or ROH. I'd happily wager that if Finn hadn't had the NXT exposure and was booked in this way, it wouldn't have worked/got the reaction it did.

I suppose, as a contrast, look at the reaction to Gallows/Anderson. Same pre-WWE hunting ground, different NXT exposure.

Not Terrible
Smackdown with the bold strategy of being terrible.

Ziggler vs. Ambrose isn't horrible but I don't really know what the rest of the card are supposed to do now. Cena vs. Styles should continue but everything else kind of sucks.

Not Terrible
Summerslam shaping up alright though

Confirmed:

Balor vs. Rollins

Ambrose vs. Ambrose

Orton vs. Lesnar

Likely:

Cena vs. Styles

New Day vs. The Club

Sasha vs. Charlotte

----------------------------------

Rusev and Miz also in the middle of some solid championship runs that should round out that card.

It'll have to be some giant cluster**** of a US title match, no? Zayn, Owens, Cesaro, Darren Young, RuRu, Jericho, Neville, Sheamus all in that upper midcard slot on Raw.

General thoughts on the last few weeks

- The draft was awful. Smackdown is the land of new opportunity, no more of this old guard nonsense. So our draft picks are Cena and Orton!

- Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins have some of the best in-ring chemistry I've ever seen. They could wrestle 100 times and it wouldn't get boring. Incredible.

- Banks-Charlotte on Raw had about 10 botches and was still incredible. Great match.

- Balor <3

- I really like Graves commentating on Raw. Whole thing feels more relaxed.

- Owens and Zayn should fight forever.

- Orton Lesnar is going to be awful and everyone knows it. So long as we get a few Heyman promos I'll accept it though.
