Heyman: "If it was Reigns against any man in the history of WWE, I would put my money on Reigns"
Really, WWE? I get you're trying to hype the match, but wow, no one will buy this.

And why is Orton back and not tearing Rollins limb from limb? Hasn't the slow burn for their feud been slow enough, just fight dammit Annoying as ****.

For some reason my box chose not to record raw this week. Checked and the series link is intact so NFI what happened. Maybe the wife read my texts off Sledger and deleted it in a jealous fit. Is all I can think of.

Anyway. Is it worth the effort to try and retrieve by alternate means?

Watched Bryan-HHH from last years mania before and now about to watch the main event. **** I love the network and to think I haven't even had to pay for it yet.

Uncensored 97 the next PPV on my wwe/WCW golden era journey. Jono's thoughts demanded

Rey Mysterio looks like he's left now.
Sad times as I'd have loved for my daughter to see him live, she's a big fan

Btw she thinks it's real and I've chosen not to tell her otherwise. Is this wrong of me? I dig how much she hates everyone who was on team authority, big show for being a traitor and HHH/Steph

Bret over Luger 1994?
FU OS for not responding.

Do you think the original reason for Luger having that lame countout victory over Yoko at SummerSlam 93 was so that he could win at Mania X? I know they definitely went Bret over Luger because of the Rumble crowd reaction when it was a draw, but curious to know if they had a Mania win with Luger planned all the way back at SummerSlam. Probs did.

Heh... good read. But what about Rollins' MITB briefcase. That's the most exciting thing in the WWE right now... not knowing when he'll cash it in.
Didn't even know he had it tbh. I only watched Raw this week because I was curled up in the foetal position with food poisoning and was bored waiting for the World Cup match to start.

I'm watching Raw and Heyman basically called Reigns the greatest in history....I just......what. Was it supposed to be said in a mocking tone, because it sure as hell didn't sound like it. I like Reigns but sheesh, if this is how they're going to portray him with everyone fawning over him, I'm calling BS. If it's a sign of Heyman betraying Lesnar for Reigns at WM, then fine, but otherwise this felt completely absurd.

I thought it was pretty decent, with Heyman basically telling him it doesn't matter if he can beat 2000-era The Rock, 1996-era HBK or 2007-era Cena -- 2015 Brock is something completely different.

I guess it was a bit cheesy because they're still working so hard to sell Reigns, but to me that was all about showing Lesnar as being an opponent who is a class above anyone else -- "I think you're good enough to beat anyone on your day, but Lesnar is something else entirely".

The Daniel Bryan promo was more about selling Reigns, and I think they did a good job of it tbh.

Haha that Summerslam 93 Luger v Yokozuna match is one of the funniest in history. Luger in there celebrating with all the babyfaces in the roster with confetti and balloons falling from the rafters, even though he hadn't even won the title

It's a good comparison actually. Luger was Hogan's guy ala Batista in 2014 and the crowd wanted the smaller guy in Bret/Bryan. I think Vince made the Rumble a draw because he wanted to gauge the crowd a bit more anyway. Became clear after that that Bret was the guy the audience wanted.

Bryan was still fine. He's the ultimate good guy babyface anyway so him being complimentary is fine.

But Heyman's just came off as really really forced imo. Wouldn't it have made far far more sense for him to point out that Brock had beaten Hogan,Rock,Flair,Cena, basically every great champion of the last 10-15 years had fallen before the beast, and after beating all of them a guy like Reigns who is green as **** would be easy breakfast? Him doing it like that would've even got a bit of the crowd on Roman's side because he's being portrayed as the guy who has to overcome insurmountable odds, and at the same time reminds us that Brock's the most unstoppable force in WWE history. Instead they kissed Roman's backside and went completely ass-backwards.

Haha yeah, no doubt the Rumble was done to gauge the crowd. But you've gotta think that at SummerSlam they planned on Luger just being the man to eventually take it at Mania. Otherwise the count-out just makes no sense.

Luger's plate in his arm elbow finisher was so  btw. Good that WCW gave him the torture rack, which was gun.

In one taping before WM X, Vince actually let Luger hold the belt (not as champion but just as part of an angle) and show it off to the crowd to hype him as the next champion and see how the crowd would respond. The reaction was meh at best and at that moment Vince pretty much gave up on his idea of Luger as the next guy.

The funniest thing about the Roman thing is that hasn't Rusev ended up looking 'stronger' than Roman anyway? #Rusev4Champ

Yeah, this was silly imo. It would be more apt if he was actually saying this about Lesnar, not Reigns. Reigns has done nothing to come close to justifying being spoken of in these terms. He's been a singles competitor for less than a year ffs.

Grand total of 2 ppv matches as a singles competitor, I think. Absolutely absurd.

Yeah, very fair call. I saw it more being about Heyman selling Lesnar on-screen, while the writers wanted it done in such a way that it talked up Reigns too. It was waaaay OTT but I think the concept was solid enough -- portray Lesnar as an unparalleled beast while also trying to get Reigns over somehow. The only way to do that was for Heyman to build up Reigns, put then put Lesnar over him -- "you can beat any man, but Lesnar's not a man"

I'd have contextualised it as the roster right now, not as an ATG-type discussion. Reigns > Triple H, Orton, Cena, Bryan, Undertaker is still pretty meaningful, but not Cena-06, SCSA-98, Rock-99, Trips-00 levels of over-selling.

I haven't seen the clip in question, but it doesn't seem right for the manage of the opposing Sports Entertainer to say that. You could have the Rock say it and it could at least make sense. He could be all "I've seen this kid all his life, I've watched him grow up and kick every jabroni's butt...blah blah blah...I know he can beat anyone in the world just you see blah blah blah". But the other guy's manager who logically has only seen him at 2 PPV's and Raw?

I'll just blame Brock for no showing

Yeah, I get the logic, I just think they overdid it really badly. It would have made sense for Heyman to go down the "you have great potential young man" route. That would have been easier to swallow, though still somewhat dubious for me, but him basically saying that Reigns was an atg in not so many words was just...well it came across as a bit desperate. When you need to resort to that sort of thing to get someone over it's pretty much an admission that they really aren't over. It's a bit like something Uppercut said in another thread: "the more you say 'I'm not a racist', the less likely it is to be true".
