This will be confirmed when Bancroft opens before Renshaw and Burns ever do, so much for Qldr, just best batsmen in the country missing out :(

Who would have thought picking 2 debut batsmen in the middle-order with first-class averages in the 30s wouldn't have worked out?

I rememebr Ian Chappell criticising Smarsh for his high amount of test ducks, so not all commenatators fawn over him

and yeah its pretty crazy Mitch Marsh is batting 4. I feel the credit he got from those 2 ashes tons will run out pretty quick at this rate

So I'm still confused, I'm a Qldr supporting the big show to be better than anyone in the current aussie top 6, so why is he not there?

I haven't really followed this game at all. There's been scuttlebutt that Batil Asif is a "chucker" on social media, is there any legitimacy to these complaints or just whinging?

I know that it's disappointing but let's not pretend that this tour was ever going to be anything other than a disaster waiting to happen

Look at our top 6 ffs

MMarsh, Head, Manus & Paine are all number 7s at this level AT BEST, SMarsh shouldn't be anywhere near the team & Finch is nothing more than a Hail Mary call as an opener

While our batting cupboard isn't exactly overflowing with talent, the selectors have gone out of their way to make it appear worse than it is and picked a squad with only the remotest chance of success

Best we can hope for is for someone to put up a fight while those in the shield rack up some big scores

Disagree re. Finch. He is legit. Him and Khawaja are the only bats in this team that should be 1st choice

Going forward should be:

Renshaw
Warner
Khawaja
Smith
Finch
Maxwell
Carey

How Head somehow even got close to the Test team is someone's idea of a sick joke

Border commentating? Which channel? If fox have picked him up then I might actually cough up?
Him and Julian have been commentating with Fox for a very long time. He pretty much always does non-Ashes Australian international tours. So yes he’s with Fox for the summer of cricket.

My badly made point was that Finch has done nothing as an opener in fc stuff to justify his selection as one in tests

His action looked fine to me from what I saw of it.

This looks a nice team. Having high hopes for one of De Kock, Carey, Pant to be the next great wk since Gilchrist.

Definitely just whinging and/or not understanding the rules. His action looks a bit unusual because he releases the ball out of the back of his hand (kind of like Murali's release, but with a straight arm), but there's no chucking there; it's just unusual. He's actually been tested once before, after his ODI debut a few years ago, and they found him to be not even close to chucking.

IMO Finch would do fine as an opener, but given that Warner is better and Renshaw should really be playing, Finch would be more suited to the middle order

de Kock was pretty much that for a few years, but he's had a really bad run and fell off a cliff a bit. I don't see Carey being much better than 35 average (which would still be great). Pant really needs to work on his keeping. No point having a gun WK/bat that averages 40+ if they can't keep.

There’s just serious issues with our pathways and systems. The talent is there. We’re producing the bowlers. But no batsmen
