Also really disappointed with Paine as captain. He is letting Langer be the boss....whatever happened to the captain setting the batting order... first Test with Langer in charge and its Smarsh at 3 and Mmarsh at 4 same as WA

Amusing moment of the day was when Mike Hussey on commentary was going on about how Shaun Marsh had really matured as a batsman over the past few years and was realising his potential.
They then bring up a graphic of his Test averages over the past few years and how mediocre his 2017 & 2018 averages are (only in the 30s) and after being briefly flustered because contradicted his narrative, Hussey just ignores them and continues on with his pre-ordained spiel.
Do commentators forget how mediocre Marsh was on the India & South Africa tours or just lazy? Probably the latter.

The love for S Marsh by former players and now commentators is inexplicable. It sure doesn’t give any credit to the “I’ve played tests and you haven’t” bolt hole they normally rely on when contradicted by evidence. If they just said something like “yeah Marsh is rubbish with the occasional diamond but we don’t have much else to choose from “ it would be ok. But to talk him up like he never was makes commentators look the fools they take the rest of us for.

Yeah I've always enjoyed AB's commentary. Very knowledgeable and informative. By no means over the top, but has an excellent cadence of speech for cricket commentary.

Our standards have dropped a long way.
I think because Shaun Marsh is so pretty when he is going well people tend to forget how often he fails. He's always been disappointing as a cricketer because he appears to be so naturally talented.
Still, he's easily in the top 6 batsmen in the country. Getting out like he did last night was atrocious though.

Mitch Marsh I have more hope for. In another 10 tests his average really should be up around the 35 mark and I expect him to get better as he ages.
Long term we can't afford to be carrying batsmen who average under 30 in the team so it's really now or never for him IMO. Undoubtedly Langer would want him if he averaged 3 though.
Queenslanders are often accused of being a Queenslander first and an Australian second but I really feel like Langer isn't even Australian - he's West Australian. He really needs to lose the public favoritism or he's going to ruin cricket in this country. Incompetence I can handle. Incompetence mixed with favouritism is sickening.
