He said that in a sarcastic sense. They can't even handle Hafeez, how would they handle Murali
Yes with Pakistan having three decent spinners in their side, the UDRS certainly benefits them, not sure it's necessarily the type of spinner rather than the number of them in the side. I know Graeme Swann has benefitted from not just the referral system, but the fact umpires are now more willing to give batsmen out on the front foot due to the enhanced technology, even if a review is not called for. If we had three very competent spinners like Swann, I'm sure we'd have this kind of success with the new front foot LBW's mindset.Btw,does anyone else think that UDRS benefits Pakistani bowlers, specially spinners more than anyone else? In both the ODI's and Tests?
The Type of bowlers they have they hit the pad on the front foot a lot of times and with the UDRS and the umpires willing to give more such type of LBW'S ,it gives them more wickets.
This benefited Afridi a lot in the WC too.
UDRS Would have helped someone like Kumble no ends during his career.
He used to get so many LBW's turned down on the front foot and even remember Umpires turning down his shouts as he used to block their view in his follow through.
Not as long as Sammy is captain....After watching Pakistani bowlers sell their honour for some cash, and thus denying me the possibility of seeing Aamir at his peak, my new wish is now to see Roach, Edwards and Taylor bowl together for the West Indies. Will the West Indies cricket board grant me that wish or am I being too hopeful?
Doesn't everyone chuck their doosra?Still suspect Ajmal chucks his doosra tbh.
I've been following WI cricket for a long time, and I came to the conclusion that WI groundsmen are completely incompetent....Does anyone think it's impossible for the WI groundsman to produce any other sort of pitch than this one they're currently playing on ? WI have always struggled against spin, even domestically it's the spin bowling that causes all the problems, yet they select one spinner, whose on debut, in their side, so what are the advantages in producing a pitch with variable bounce and immense turn on the opening day ?
Surely if it was possible, I don't know if it is, they should be leaving more grass on the pitch to negate the impact of Pakistan's spinners, and take their chances against the seamers on a pitch that may favour that style of bowling. That will also bring their own bowlers into play much more with the likes of Roach, Rampaul, and reluctantly naming Sammy!
Haha, I'll keep a politically correct finger on my mouth. Only bowler who I knew who certainly did not chuck his doosra, IMO, was Murali but his bowling technique was completely different from your standard offie and he had a freakish physical condition.Doesn't everyone chuck their doosra?
Funnily enough, they handled the SL spinners in Sri Lanka easily enough in the three-Test series last year....They can't even handle Hafeez, how would they handle Murali
You are giving Murali as example of Not Chucking?Haha, I'll keep a politically correct finger on my mouth. 120-2 suggests that this pitch isn't too tricky with some concentration while batting and without Ajmal. Pakistan's batting isn't the strongest but neither is the Windies bowling, and Pakistan should put together a decent lead tomorrow.220-230 is par IMO.
A lot depends on young Kemar's opening spell. Very hard to bat against a bowler of his talent if he bowls well. That said, I've been impressed with Pakistan's rookie batsman so far and both Toffee Kumar and Azhar Ali have shown that they know how to stick around patiently in the past. Won't call anything for tomorrow unless I see Bishoo bowl.120-2 suggests that this pitch isn't too tricky with some concentration while batting and without Ajmal. Yes, WI don't have an Ajmal, they have a gifted leg-spinner on debut, but they don't have a bowler that can confuse and bamboozle like Ajmal did today. With the pressure built at the other end by Rehman, WI backed themselves into a corner and had nowhere to go, but can WI assert the same pressure on Pakistan, I personally would say no at this stage.120-2 suggests that this pitch isn't too tricky with some concentration while batting and without Ajmal.
