**Official** Pakistan in Sri Lanka

Wow! What a performance by Asif....with a fit Shoaib and Asif sharing the new ball, Pakistan is building up a brilliant pace attack...could very well be the best opening attack in the world in a few years if Asif continues to develop..

Quite early to judge that... And the Pakistani bowlers have a good opportunity to fight back again.. so anything is possible..
:notworthy Props to you! What a game it has been! Asif is brilliant and I second the thoughts of everyone that he and Shoaib will make a lethal opening pair. I can't wait for tomorrow's play to start. Sri Lanka have a lethal bowler waiting his turn as well!

Only if they get someone else to partner Asif - can't see Shoaib being around by then!

jayasuriyas going to do a ranatunga and bat with a broken hand tomorrow. (hopefully:) )
I sure hope he will do one last cameo innings for SL , we sure need it badly !!

If he can help stretch that lead to 250 plus SL have a chance.

Otherwise, I think with a low target and SL seamers not troubling Pak batters much , Murali alone will struggle to restict Pakistan . A target of under 200 IMO, gives Pakistan an 80/20 chance of winning , 250 puts it at 50/50 .

A target of under 200 gives Pak a 40 percent chance against Lanka, as they will be batting in the fourth innings on a difficult wkt and will be facing the highly dangerous Muralitharan.

I think Lanka will win the match as these small chases in fourth innings are often very difficult to get.

Does this game suggest that the SL balance isn't quite right at the moment?

By naming someone like Maharoof at 7 it gives the lower middle order a bit of a fragile look IMO, and with the unfortunate injury to Sanath, that's lead to him batting at 6.

With the blessing that is Sangakkara batting up at the top, would it not make more sense to pick a stronger batsman who can fill in a few overs at 7, or failing that encourage Dilshan to work on his bowling to be able to fill the Jayasuriya bowling role and pick another specialist batsman?

You can't believe how much it hurts me to say this Mate !!

But I have been proven right on both of the above. Murali's wicketless drought when it matters , continues ...

Pakistan absolutely coasting to a Morale boosting 8 wicket win with several of their regulars not even in the Team.

Bob comes out Trumps !!

SL lost the match due to its own fault, i think their batting was totally reckless, no point blamming Murali.

Well played Pakistan. A very well earned Victory in a contest that was close, but Pakistan put their foot down when it mattered (in the second innings) .

As far as SL goes, too much money wasted on too many idiots filling coaching jobs and earning fat salaries when a performance review would find they have made absolutely zilt contribution to the improvement of this Team's performance , since they have come on.

Money should be spent on SL's struggling school cricket, Club Cricket and rural cricket where talented cricketers should be given opportunity to play and given resources and incentives. Money that is currently being wasted on a few fat cat pretenders claiming to be coaches .:@

A performance review will find in the past year SL has failed time after time and these guys have made absolutely no impact . If anything before they came on the Team was doing far better.

Moody will claim that he was away and hide behind that excuse !!:@

If he has guts, he should acknowledge the SL coaching job is beyond him and that he is a damn failure and get out before he gets kicked out and suffer humiliation.
Roy Dias can do better with this Team , at least he will not be costing SL cricket a fortune for doing absolutely zilt with regard to performance. He can do a far better job for a minute fraction of what the Fat cats cost us now.

39.5 Muralitharan to Mohammad Yousuf, no run, flighted ball on the off stump, batsman sweeps and misses, ball strikes the pad and loud appeal, Harper turns it down again, once more a poor decision from Harper

I wonder if anyone watching live can tell me how poor the umpiring was. Given the above it may seem the suggestion is that there was more than 1 poor decision.

I am not finding an excuse for SL poor performance. But SL unfortunately ended up with 2 of International Cricket's and (Australia's) worst Umpires. Both Idiots being from South Australia Harper and Steve Davis .

Maybe they were umpiring for Hair!!

BTW, did anyone saw Farhat's innings, he played and missed so many times, was hell lucky not to have got out early.I don't think he can do well in England.

Here's another one-
21.3 Muralitharan to Imran Farhat, no run, doosra around the off stump, Farhat pads it away on the front-foot, loud shout but Harper turns it down, looks like hitting the middle and leg stump, poor decision

And another-

23.5 Muralitharan to Imran Farhat, no run, pitched up on the leg stump, straightens, batsman beaten and ball strikes the pads, loud appeal but again Harper turns it down, thats hitting the middle stump, very poor umpiring from Harper!

I am not finding excuses Mate. SL were poor and deserved to lose, but over several years you and I and most Sri Lankans know, Aussie Umpires and SL cricket don't go well together.
Why can't we get other countrymen to umpire Tests involving Sri Lanka.

We have encountered Daryl Harper's eternal poor decision making , which is quite clearly well known to be prejudicial against SL over and over and over again...

Why then do the ICC keep sending this buffoon to SL to officiate, when we and most or all Sri Lanks would say we don't want him officiating our Tests or ODIs ..

And the last test it was the other chap Davis ,standing again in this Test.

Is it because the ICC is packed with Too many Aussies who control the show ? (I refer to the Almighty Malcolm Speed who by the way seems to have taken over that ICC job for eternity)
