Does Stevenson do every stink of the test match. I swear I hear his voice all day. Arghhhh

Clearly we elitists and snobs are not the target audience for Scott Stevenson.

The question is whether he successfully appeals to the demographic he's there for (what might that be?) .... and whether we want those people involved in the first place .

OMG is Stevenson suggesting Watling is doing well to trust Jamieson to face most of an over against Haris here. Someone get rid of him

Far as I can tell, Stevenson appeals to a certain demographic on Twitter that I somewhat unwillingly engage with...would probably be engaging in overly contentious socio-political commentary to try and break that down

you know you're going to give this spiel anyway, could be now or could wait until you've had a few drinks later

One thing I will say is that while cricket ‘elitists’ may not like him, there is certainly an element of ‘elitism’ in said demographic

Lordy that was dreadful. I got so bored I went off and did some housework.
I was pleasantly surprised with Bracewell on the radio commentary earlier. Was talking about different styles of leg spin and how Pakistan going back to Qadir have produced several front on leggies whose main weapon is the wrong'un. Quite nuts and bolts technical stuff about Jamieson's batting technique too.

Not-that-short version - there is a weird and very distinctive subculture of (with apologies for using
the ‘w’ word) ‘woke boofhead’ culture in NZ sport twitter. Sort of like a whole lot of PC Principal types
from South Park. Basically white guys in their 30s and 40s who embody every toxic masculine archetype but disguise it by trotting out the ‘right’ opinions all the time.

I know some of these guys irl, hyper-aggressive narcissist types, but they say women’s cricket is good on twitter so that makes it ok...

‘Sumo’ is like the patron saint of these guys. Smug know-nothing ****wit but he pronounces names correctly and tweets about feminism so he must be a good bloke.

Didn't disappoint. And true.

How much of a road will this wicket turn into?

Reckon it will really flatten out, won't believe any talk of fifth day breaking up until I see it either.
They talked about this in the last hour of radio commentary. It was hot and dry enough for a pitch appearance of plates and cracks to be visible last season with England, when there were the grubbers and occasionally huge turn. Pitch given a poor review so there's not any tectonic plates look under the grass this time. Locals tipping just some moderate turn in this game from day 4.
