Good cricket in those last few overs before lunch. Ball was nipping around nicely and NZ bowlers were asking questions of the Pakistani batsmen.

Best collective seam bowling performance from Pakistan in a long long time. Good to see them bowl out teams without contribution from Yasir. They've been just too dependent on Yasir and Ajmal before him and when they wouldn't perform, they would lose games.

The way Pakistan have played and the results they've had over the past 24 months, I think they're slight favourites given the small lead the Kiwis have and the inexperience in our batting lineup to chase a 4th innings score. The horrible batting in the morning session shows how out of touch our batting lineup is.

Waggy is going to have a big day on the basis of this..

I think Southee and Boult bowled really well, but the length was too short - De Grandhomme will be treated like a bowler and a lot more ineffective due to that.

OK, I'll give this lad some great credit.

What he's doing that Southee and Boult seem unable to do, is getting the ball into awkward lengths and doing it repeatedly enough that the pitch will give him assistance. It's so simple, but it's still worrying to me that it takes a part timer who doesn't even operate as a specialist for his relatively weaker bowling attack province is the guy getting it right for NZ here.
