Kid was getting top edges that on any other ground wouldn't have gone for six but would have been out.
There was one of those and one edge through the vacant slip area. So you have a point that there were some potential wickets on another day. But there was also a flat batted six - and drive behind point, and some fours through mid wicket.

They might have given some chances against pace but I don't think they struggled.

It was Southee's movement who caused them problems IMHO

I hope Southee can extend that form for a while. Quite often, these decent spells are surrounded by a sea of mediocrity. Much like Martin's brilliant spell in the first test in India was surrounded by swathes of crap.

Afridi is such a dire captain the pitch is clearly supporting the seamers the **** goes and bowls his spinners over half the innings

Not just that..Ajmal bowls his first over and concedes 3 runs..and gets changed by Hafeez who gets smashed all over. Shoaib was taking wickets, he should have bowled his full quota.of 4 overs and try to get Ross Taylor when he was new. The only way Pakistan could have won defending 140 was by getting 10 wickets..instead Afridi seemed to be saving Ajmal and Akhtar for the last few overs, by which team the match was already over and Taylor was well set.

Afridi writes his captaincy plans tpre match day and follows through them regardless match situation not surprising really as everyone and their mammas were aware that his head is full of cow dung and not any brain matter.

I am not a particularly big fan of Afridi's captaincy, but there is not much you can do in a format as fickle as T20. Plus Hafeez did not make a bad account of himself in some of the previous games, when he was brought on to bowl in similar situations.

guy just a freak the guy first bowled a cricket ball when he was 18 two years later was bowling 90 mph for Pakistan A.
I'd say that with Brett Lee gone, he is probably the quickest player in ODI and T20 cricket - at his age - that is pretty nuts.

Shoaib Akhtar is a freak. It is unfortunate that he didn't play more test matches; the dude was destined for greatness.

btw NZL cricket looks to be going in a positive direction if injuries don't come their way I can see Milne and Southee forming a pretty dangerous bowling pair which can keep NZl competitive over the next decade.

Yes. Not sure with Milne playing anything more than T20 cricket, while he has just a handful of domestic games under his belt - but to have someone at eighteen, bowling his speed, is very promising. As for Southee, well, he has been destined for greatness for a while, hasn't he.

I am not necessarily disagreeing here, but I would be wary of reading too much into a T20 match.
Oh yeah. Southee isn't suddenly 'the new Mcgrath' after today - just the fact that him and Milne played and they could potentially be a good future of NZ quick bowling.

do think Southee will eventually come good has all the assets don't reckon he will be an ATG or something but a solid 28-32 averaging bowler as for Milne ofcourse too early to say but he's already covered in the pace department anything he adds on to his bowling now will improve him exponentially.

Brett Lee isn't gone yet though. He's still aiming to be picked in the Australian ODI and T20 side, and he's been the number one bowler in the aussie list A comp this season. We may well yet see both Shoaib and Lee one last time at a world cup. Just a pity that Bond can't join them.

Encouragingish start from Milne. I just really hope the selectors don't get excited and develop the urge to put him in the ODI side. The boy needs time in domestic cricket to really learn his game.

I saw some footage of Milne standing next to Bond the other day and he looks like a skinny 12 year old.

He looked good though despite going for nearly 50 runs, maybe they're just waiting for his body to develop a bit, but I would like to see him bulk up a bit.
