we need to stop sending Hoggy in as nigh****chman IMO, he's nowhere near what he was a year or two back. He should bat no 11 these days, I know the stated purpose is that so he can be with a batsmen but the fact is its a long time since he made decent contributions like that and the likes of Panesar have made significant contributions in the more recent past.
Joke, Dave, joke.

But you make an interesting point.

He doesn't really need to make a significant contribution, he just needs to see the day out when he goes in which he does.
but a lot of the time he disrupts the pace of the innings the morning after

Pakistan should've declared as soon as they got the lead.
I thought that actually, England have to face 4 overs max now.

If I was England, I'd bowl Mahmood for the rest of the day. :p

Put England in and see if you can get a wicket or two before close of play. I realize that you are very disapointed with Pak's bowling attack (as is everyone), but I'm sure you realize that adding 20 to 30 runs right now isn't going to make any difference whatsoever. At least by putting England in to bat you have a CHANCE of getting a wicket.

Strange play from Nazir, looks like he's playing for tomorrow!

Good little knock from Kaneria tho, now his best score in tests (apparently). You'd still have thought Pakistan would've fancied a few overs at us tonight tho really.

I know OT, but does anyone know where we can see more of those npower girls they keep showing during breaks and all? The one that calls herself "Sally" is the hottest blond I've seen in a while! :naughty:

Fusion,

I get your point. But my honest answer is, I have no faith in this bowling line-up at all. The Pakistani quicks are likelier to go for 30 runs off 5 overs then pick up a wicket, IMO. True, 5-10 runs won't make much of a difference - however, 30 odd runs can, specially in the second innings.

3 for Monty. & very thoroughly deserved too; marathon stint.

Lead of 23 for Pakistan. Could be interesting couple of overs.

Well moot point now as the last wicket falls. I don't have faith in this bowling attack either, but funny things happend during closing minutes of play from time to time. I would've thought that England feeling a LITTLE pressure for the first time in this series might have produced a wicket for us. Oh well, only an over or two left to play now at max.

Younis Khan (6993) approaching 7000 test runs. Good to see Pakistan putting up a fight here, hopefully they can draw this one (it could really only be an English victory or draw) and then win the next one with Asif back.
Younis Khan only has 3834 runs, which is a long way of 7000????

Brainless 10 minutes spoiled what could have been a really good lead.Younis and Yousuf were really special today lets hope it rains now and we can safely go to Oval with Shoaib and Asif returning and a chance to level the series.

So in 47.4 overs he gets someone falling over onto their stumps, a (bad) number 8 heaving and a number 11. If he could actually bowl someone decent out more than once in a blue moon on a normal Test wicket he'd be dangerous.

Throughout the day he was the only bowler who troubled the batsmen.

Considering the other bowlers weren't able to do even that...I'd say that was a pretty good job.

Explains why in 47.4 overs he got a wicket through someone falling on their stumps, a number 8 heaving and a number 11 then doesn't it...
