TT was advocating for his selection before the test series against England last winter.Nnanden said:Easy tiger. I claimed Asif first.

Asif has performed 3 times on this tripLaurrz said:Not sure about Broad...haven't seen him
but Mohammad Asif is an ABSOLUTE GUN!!!!!
10 overs 3/28... KP Strauss, Tres ...can't get bigger english wickets....
KP has no idea if he is swinging it in (bowled) or out (caught behind)
and i'm loving it
if things stay like it is Mohammad Asif is for sure the next Glenn McGrath without a shadow of doubt
he is definately an excellent prospectsocial said:Asif has performed 3 times on this trip
On 2 of those occasions he has bowled in perfect conditions for his style and returned good figures
In the second innings at the Oval, the conditions were better for batting and he was hit around the park.
He has potential but let him bowl for a few more years before we label him as anything more than a good prospect.
Fair point. Similar with Broad, I suppose, will be interesting to see how he goes on a Saturday morning at a Lord's which has been fairly flat all year. If it's sunny, he could very well be hammered.Xuhaib said:Actually Asif has not bowled aswell as he bowled before his elbow injury(maybe still rusty). He has been lucky to bowl in favourable conditions since his return and the only time he bowled in batting conditions was at Oval in the 2nd innings and despite the dropped catch he looked quite below par in that innings.
The Lbws which Broad got in the 20/20 and ODIs do seem a little lucky when compared to some of the ones Pakistan didn't get. Anyway Broad does look a good prospect but I remember Anderson being a similar type of bowler and England didn't treat him too wellClownSymonds said:Pakistan are unlucky. They're about to win a test match, and Umpire Hair decides against them. They're about to win an ODI, and rain denies them.
Shoaib is the Ronaldo of cricket. You almost expect him to get injured every other match he plays. However, he held up well this time, and bowled quite nicely, as he usually does. Too bad he didn't get Gough at the end - that man damaged his spell stats.
Rana was very unlucky. He bowled beautiful outswing at the beginning of his spell, but sadly missed the edge. He was the only Pakistani bowler who went for runs, and had he a bit of luck, even he probably would've ended up with around 4 an over.
Asif bowled wonderfully well, especially to Kevin Pietersen. KP really does seem clueless as to how to play him.
Broad was quite impressive on debut. If he can bowl those cutters consistently, he should always give right-handed players who don't use their feet trouble. Malik and Younis would probably agree.
Strauss as opener has had enough time to show his worth and he doesn't seem able to do the job. Maybe Bell should be given a try like in the 20/20 game, what about Alastair Cook in the ODIs instead of someone like Rikki Clarke (a pointless selection in my opinion). England seem to have gone back to their old habbit of selecting players who can neither stake their claim as bowlers or batsmen.Barney Rubble said:A point that has been in need of discussion for some time now - Andrew Strauss as an ODI opener. Why?
umm maybe i misread your post but Broad and Anderson are completely different types of bowler!Run like Inzy said:The Lbws which Broad got in the 20/20 and ODIs do seem a little lucky when compared to some of the ones Pakistan didn't get. I didn't see the 20/20 match, but Broad certainly got Malik in the ODI, and could've had Younis as well. But I wasn't going on the results so much as the way he was able to get the batsmen on the back foot and strike them on the pads. Anderson, I think, was much shorter than Broad and didn't have as much natural bounce. Broad is Glenn McGrath's height, which certainly helps his potential.Run like Inzy said:The Lbws which Broad got in the 20/20 and ODIs do seem a little lucky when compared to some of the ones Pakistan didn't get. I meant both were young bowlers who hadn't had a lot of FC experience and bowled right arm fast medium, funnily they both bat lefthanded too! There style is different though.SpaceMonkey said:umm maybe i misread your post but Broad and Anderson are completely different types of bowler!
Meaningless comparison because there are plenty of others that have improved that are 'similar'. Anderson has a different action which England knacked up by trying to change, all Broad needs to do is stay fit and he'll keep getting better.Run like Inzy said:I meant both were young bowlers who hadn't had a lot of FC experience and bowled right arm fast medium, funnily they both bat lefthanded too!
