Anyone know the chances of Jimmy Anderson being fit and playing a part in this series? Boy we need him back if we're still going to Mahmood and Lewis.
he's apparently back bowling of a few pace run up, would expect him to be back for Lancs last week in july/first week in august.

but Anderson will have to improve a lot to become a top class bowler again
Dunno if you saw him in India but he looked pretty excellent out there, he's the only one worthy of a place instead of the usual foursome.

Samiullah Khan is Asif replacement, his Cricinfo picture is rather disconcerting but his first class average and strike rate is rather impressive.

Looks okay.

Not even going to comment on the Geraint-thing, I just give up:@

Samiullah Khan Niazi is a lanky left-armer without much pace or bounce but he is accurate. Think Ashish Nehra or Ian Bradshaw, but not RP Singh.

With all these injuries to key players, I'm declaring myself available to play for either team. I think I have a shot.

It looks like a cross between Hitler, Napoleon and Chris Tavaré

As if we didn't already have enough injured seamers in Akhtar, Flintoff, Jones, Naved-ul-Hasan, Anderson and possibly Hoggard, it now looks like Asif and Sami could miss the first test as well.

Trescothick, Strauss, Cook, Pietersen, Bell, Collingwood, Jones, Plunkett, Harmison, Hoggard/Lewis, Panesar

Malik, Farhat/Butt, Younis, Yousuf, Inzamam, Afridi, Akmal, Razzaq, Sami/Nazir, Gul, Kaneria

Pakistan's bowling unit would be under extreme pressure with Asif out of first test, Sami doubtful…and now Naved being out of the series, i think we will have an exciting series..

Maybe even Saj Mahmood can get another go :p
