*Official* Pakistan in England and Ireland 2016

They clearly aren't as good as the 2011 side, more depth to the pace bowling though so may help us stay towards the top for longer despite not having a good spinner in the side. Bat longer too but not got the same ability in the top 6 despite having Root now.
Quite so, which is why I thought Cook's comment was so odd. A composite side would only have Root from players who weren't around in 2011, I think. Whereas KP, Strauss, Bell, Swann and Prior would all be picked. Maybe Bresnan from his golden period too.

There's more talent there, just it is unrealised at the moment. And the catching/keeping is pathetic. If England find even 2-3 passable batsmen who can catch (there are a few possibilities) then that will make a hell of a difference.

Obviously Cook is still there, you have Root who should surpass any of the (England) batsmen in my lifetime. Bairstow who could potentially get up there as well, but we'll just have to see how it pans out. Stokes and Woakes who can both be world class all-rounders. You also have Anderson and Broad near their peak. With the likes of Wood ready to come in.

England have had pretty solid line-ups in the past 20-30 years, but no players in there that have been exceptional throughout their career (just the odd period where they were exceptional). That's what could elevate this team ahead of the more recent sides.

For two guys who've spent most of their careers playing with each other, Ali and Shafiq only have 12 partnerships.

The Younis/Misbah effect?

Shafiq, you've complained a lot about not getting to bat higher. This is your chance, make number 3 your own and in the process, also permanently push Azhar to the opening spot.
Very much so, if this top order works, gives them a chance to sneak in another young middle order batsman or Wasim for the West Indies tour.

I don't expect Misbah or Younis to retire after this series whatsoever.

Younis has previous form for this sort of thing. Won't go till he's dragged kicking and screaming.

England's perceived pace bowling depth was immense in 2011.

Yeah that period was ridic for English and Australian bowling depth. Tremlett, Bresnan, Onions, Finn, Cummins, Pattinson, Bird, Siddle, Bollinger?, Starc etc

Misbah is the type of guy will need no persuasion to leave, absolute gent, will probably end up walking away to early as the thought of him been a burden will disgust him. Younis wants 10 000 test runs and also has a fragile ego, very brave man to even suggest walking away to him.

Back then we had Broad, Anderson, Tremlett, Bresnan, Finn and Onions.

We now have Broad, Anderson, Woakes, Finn, Stokes, Wood and even Ball who looks promising.

Tremmers was a crock as was onions sadly, think we have more depth now than back then.

Please tune in :(
I tried but it just says loading, I tried refreshing but still no sound. I made sure I have sound as I played a song on YouTube. I have listened to you before so I don't know what's wrong now, although it was about a year ago I tuned in before. Is it working for anyone else?
