**Official** Pakistan in Australia Thread

Everyone's saying there's no room for Lee in the WACA test team, that Kasprowicz is bowling too well. Well, how's about Australia does what it always used to do at the WACA and play an extra fast bowler?! And why has nobody mentioned it?? It seems pretty logical if you ask me... and it's not gonna be the same series with Shoaib and Sami clocking 150's consistantly and Gillespie being the fastest of the Aussies just pushing 145 every now and then. The pace rivalry between Akhtar and Lee would've been great to watch!!

So who are you going to leave out then?
Warne?
Gilchrist, with Langer the wicketkeeper?
Ponting, for not scoring enough runs?
Lehmann, see above?
Hayden, see above?

They dont need an extra pace bowler because their current bowlers are bowling extremely well in sub-continent and have been consistent. As Steulen said who would u drop?

I'd drop Martyn in a heartbeat

I think Lehmann's living on borrowed time.

He has not done himself justice these past weeks, with immature batting in India and a "gimme" fifty against New Zealand.

I still can't understand why Katich got the pink slip.

What kind of heart do you have? One that needs antifreeze? You don't drop a Man of the Series in one of the hardest places to play cricket in the world like that.

He's been by far the most consistent since the Sri Lankan tour.

He only bats well there. He should live in the sub continent and Australia can go pick him up on their way through. Barely ever performs in Australia. Plus he's a boring batsman to watch.

Now Michael Clarke... there's entertainment value... and a ****ing champion to go with it!!

Look, it's a matter of opinion. Some may drool over watching Damien Martyn bat whereas others might change the channel... there's no right or wrong... I don't like him, you do... well... that's just how it is

An average of 44.86 with 2 centuries and 12 fifties at home isn't "hardly ever performing"...
I think playing Lee would increase the chances of Pakistan winning, why change a winning combination?

That post is so ironic, considering everyone's criticism of Martyn was that he couldn't play spin.

Lucky youre not a selector then. Funny how you say he only ever performs in the sub continent... he's scored centuries in almost every Test nation.

I am going to put my neck on the line and pick Pakistan to win the first test. I am actually going to go to the T.A.B website right now and put some money on the pakistanies

Something must be wrong tonight - I find myself agreeing with Eclipse as well!

Martyn is one of the most under-rated batsmen around IMO.

They have mentioned it mate. It's been mentioned in the papers for the last week or so. I think most people would take regular wickets over searing pace any day. Personally, I'm all for sending Lee back to play some cricket with NSW first cause he's being made to wait around and do nothing at the moment.

Lee gave Hayden a taste of what Sami and Akhtar could do when he bowled him a quick delivery in the nets and got hit on the finger trying to fend the ball off.

Lump it! Bichel was in a similar situation & no-one bended over backwards to give him a game.

The difference between Lee & Bichel, is that it is only going to take one bad game from Kasprowicz before Lee is rushed back in, whereas Lee had to have several bad series or injury to let Bichel in.

For N. American viewers, is there any way to watch coming pak and Aust. series. Dishnetwork usually provide cricket coverage here, but it seems that they are not interested in this series.

I wouldn't actually say that. After Bichel had a great WC and a few injuries hit the side he was picked as part of a 5 man bowling lineup in the West Indies, when Australia had not played 5 bowlers for many years. The first two tests were played with Lee, Bichel, Gillespie, Hogg and Macgill, and then after McGrath returned from injury Hogg was dropped for him and Bichel was kept in the side.
