But, yes you're right. If they do engage in rotation policies, it has to include both Warne & McGrath or done in dead rubbers.
I think Bob should be a given a year atleast before the knives come out.. Let's wait until after the India series at the very least. Pak have not played many tests under Bob. As a matter of fact Pak play alot more ODI's than they play tests..Compare 14 to Aus's 25 odd this since wc I think..dont quote on me on it. Also Bob cannot help players who insist on cutting balls three feet outside off.

I don't got no bone to pick with Bob Wolmer. He does the best with the resources he has at hand, and It isn't his fault that the team we have right now isn't exactly best representative of our strenght and talent in Cricket.
It saddens me to say so but It's a shadow compared to some of the our teams in the Nineties.
I am looking forwards towards the VB series much more the tests.

I can't fathom how the selectors are considering dropping Warne. Players like him will show their class on any wicket, any day. He has performed on pitches specifically designed to blunt his genius, and still delivered.
All Lee has for his case is raw pace and a favourable pitch. In recent weeks he hasn't even delivered for his state.
Besides, it'll start to turn by Day 4 anyway.

Gilchrist wary of Pakistan
Ahead of the first Test against Pakistan at the WACA, Adam Gilchrist has said that Australia would deal with their tempestuous opponents with care. Pakistan's campaign has been a shambles so far, with losses to the main Western Australian team as well as its second XI. However, Gilchrist said that teams often struggled initially before lifting their game as the tour went on.
"I guess it's up to them how they deal with that [the bounce at the WACA] and counter that over the next few days," Gilchrist said to ABC Sport. "All of us have seen Pakistan be hot and cold, whether it's a tour match or an international game. So we'll be wary of them still."
Gilchrist echoed a belief common among former players who had witnessed Pakistan's mercurial ways. Dennis Lillee said, "I think that the Pakistanis are always a team that save their best until it's an interesting game. They are very much a team for the occasion and when they want to they can turn it on."

indeed it is, IMO the series usually provides a fair winner and the best of 3 finals is something that should be used for other ODI tournaments.Richard said:

i was extremely disappointed with both those series. any traingular that involvees SL away from home ends up with the inevitable result where they dont stand a chance of reaching the finals. nws 2004 was one of those conditions affected series.Richard said:
IMO the vb series 01 and NWS 98 (texaco trophy whatever),although the latter involved SL, but with a few more capable players away from home and some of the series in sharjah have been worth watching.

i've got no problem with 10 ODI's in two 5-match series. After all, CA and state associations will be much happier with a certain 10 ODI's involving Australia as opposed to 8 plus 4 between the visiting countries and 2 in the final series which *may* include Australia. Add the NZ series in and that's 13 certain ODIs involving Australia here over summer, hopefully with the Gabba hosting two of them.
It will be interesting to see how much the format will change in the 2006/7 summer...I think they'll have the ODI series v NZ, then the 5 ODIs against one of the touring sides followed by three tests (probably Gabba, MCG, SCG) followed by two/three tests against the second touring side (at WACA, Hobart, Adelaide), and then 5 ODIs to round it all off, or maybe the 5 ODIs first as it's been made clear that Adelaide want their Test across the Australia Day weekend. Of course when England tour there'd probably be only 5 tests so they might have an extra two ODIs or something, and play a touring side such as Zimbabwe or something like that in a 3-match ODI series....
I think Hobart will be able to handle a test match again, the pitch, stands and general quality of the ground appears to have improved a fair bit over the past two years.

actually i'm looking at the proposed future schedule of who is touring here when, it appears that in 2006/7 we'll have NZ (again!) and England....So I'd imagine we'll play NZ in 2 tests, then 3 ODIs, followed by 5 tests against England and 5 ODIs. Of course CA may decide to stick with the Triangular series, and this schedule is clearly subject to change...
The home series next year appear to be the West Indies and Sth Africa...should be a good summer. Has Graeme Smith even played against Australia yet, in tests or ODIs??
