You mean where they just have the line-up and whether they are bowler/batter/'keeper/all-rounder?? I'm pretty sure that isn't official.

Yes but if they want to pick him primaraly as a batsman he should bat above Gilly..

He is not a number seven batsman.

I'm guessing that's just to give him an easier introduction.

I would've expected him to go in at 6 and keep Gilly in his usual spot, but it appears the selectors disagree.

On what basis considering the nature of the wicket?
Not going to jump all over the fact that Brett Lee just took 1/52 off 10 at the WACA of all places against a brittle WA batting line-up?

Hello Hello Hellooo... im talking to marc and Mr Mxyzptlk.... doubted macgill?? remember that time yous all argued till yous were blue in the face?? now hasnt that come back to bite you in the proverbial ass... commentators even said today: macgill has bowled very very well in his limited opportunities.... sound familiar guys?? i think you have an apology to make to macgilla gorilla... time to eat humble pie guys...
Why because he's picked up 5 wickets now, that counteracts all the poor figures he's been collecting in prior games?

I would point out that he still did go at all but 4 an over.

He did? Oh well. It can't be easy to be coming back after so long on the sidelines, but I want to know what basis this person who seems to like the idea of non-Keepers keeping, and one of the best opening pair around to be dropped has for saying Lee or Kasps should've played when the pitch is that good for spinners.

No it can't be easy coming back from the sidelines, but if a player can't grab a few wickets in the crash-bang-wallop environment of one-day cricket against a domestic side on a fast bowlers' wicket, what justification is there for endorsing him for a test match? At that, why should he have been selected for Sydney??

no doubt it would be a huge risk and probably largely pointless

I bet Lee will come out in the VB series and take wickets galore, he always does it. Then again, maybe it's someone elses turn, e.g. Hogg. He's got Lara out a few times ol' Georgie boy

Hogg will go at over 5 and struggle. Lee will do well.

I never said I liked the idea of non-keepers keeping...but if there's a batsman who can wicket-keep too(eg Dravid), then there's nothing wrong with playing him as a wicket-keeper. And secondly as far as dropping either Langer or Hayden is concerned, it's because you said I'd have suggested getting Langer to do wicket-keeping and dropping Gilchrist whereas I never criticized Australia for their wicket-keeper. Maybe you would have given Langer the responsibility to wicket-keep when Gilchrist is much better and excellent with bat.
And lastly, if the pitch is for spinners, that doesn't mean you won't go with any of your fast bowlers. And playing either Lee or Kasprovicz did not require them to drop any spinner. Maybe Gillespie since Kasprovicz has been bowling better than him
