**Official** Pakistan in Australia Thread

Sure.

I don't know about anybody else, did anybody find it annoying when people like Justin Langer would walk down the wicket and do some 'gardening' when the bowler was clearly ready to bowl and was getting angry at doing so (ie Shoaib).

Langer deserved a very fast bouncer or an unplayable yorker.

He got a few of those! (Well, Shoaib tried, anyway.) They were having a bit of a battle of wills - perhaps Langer was avenging Hayden. :) It's a fine line between that and time-wasting though, I guess - particularly when the Pakistanis are already in trouble with their over-rate...

I find it annoying if the Pakistanis are trying to get the over-rate back up and if some of the Aussies are trying to waste time by walking up the wicket when Shoaib is ready to bowl, I think Inzaman should walk up to the umpire and say "what the hell are you doing, tell him to get ready or let Shoaib bowl?"

I know I would.

Somehow i dont think they will 'forget' what happend in the first test, would you if you lost by 491 runs
Yeah i know its very difficult, but i hope it does happen. I think the ones who have already bought ticket for the remaing 2 test matches must be extremely worried, i mean who wants to see a totally one sided match that ends in 3 days?

I know. Puts into perspective Warnes comments to Parthiv Patel in the last series. World record holder or not, thats not the way a senior player behaves.

Exactly. All the talk is about Shoaib shortening his run-up (which I must say I agree with), however if the batsman are wasting time, Inzy should straight up have a nice chat with the umpire and ask exactly what you asked.

Sorry about the ignorance thing, but what did Warnie say to Parthiv?
Something along the lines of "You be ready when the bowler's ready to bowl". In any case, it did not sound very good at all.

I loved Patel's reaction. He had no idea what was going on.

It's probably been dealt with earlier in the thread, but I'm amazed that Pakistan - on the liveliest track in Australia - went in with Razzaq at 6, a non-batting 'keeper at 7 and then 4 genuine tailenders.

Khalil looked fairly steady from what I saw in the 1st innings, but doesn't look likely to do any real damage. I'd drop him for Hameed or Malik. Akmal's also a problem. Don't Pakistan have any prospective wicketkeeper/batsmen?

humayun farhat has done really well in league cricket in england
now hez back in pakistan ,but he is a bit hottempered
he just got banned to play against karachi coz of a tu tu main main with the umpire ,for a rong decision
wich the umpire admited after the match that it was rong

apart from that he is a very good hard hittin batsman and keeper
and it wont long till hez back in the team

they have zulqernain the under19 wicket keeper who is touted as being the future WK but lacks experience. He can bat much better then kamran and is only 18-19

Here's the team I go in with for Pakistan in Melbourne:

Salman Butt
Shahid Afridi
Yasir Hameed
Inzamam ul-Haq
Yousuf Youhana
Asim Kamal
Abdul Razzaq
Kamran Akmal
Mohammad Sami
Rana Naved-ul-Hasan
Shoaib Akhtar

Here's my thinking:
Butt's done well on tour matches, and shows good grit.
Afridi's a strokemaker, has an aggressive attitude, isn't willing to get out (That means he won't restrict his strokeplay, score 2 off of 40 and get out anyway. He'll either score at a run a ball or be out quickly. Maybe not classic test strategy, but this is a new world.) His leg spin could come in handy too.
Hameed averaged 50 before the India series. I don't know why he was dropped for the tests.
Inzamam, Youhana are self-explanatory
Kamal showed great determination in the India series. He earned my respect by coming to bat in a hopeless cause in great pain.
Razzaq, Akmal, Sami, Akhtar are self-explanatory
Naved-ul-Hasan instead of Kaneria because, frankly speaking, I don't rate Kaneria very highly and so it was either Khalil, uncapped Asif or this guy.

What do you all think?

Not a bad side but i would still persist with younis khan instead of either yasir hameed or kamal and i wouldnt play afridi

But why Younis over Hameed or Kamal? Younis averages 38, Hameed 43. Kamal has played too few tests for averages to matter. And instead of Afridi, who would open? I don't like the looks of Imran Farhat. Very unimpressive as far as I'm concerned.

Younis is one of very few who has scored so far on the tour with a century in a tour match and 42 in the last. While hameed and kamal i think havent played much or at all so far.
