And the Storm beat the Dragons, although King's second try was a bit dodgy, but rules are rules and it was a legitimate try. After that performance the Storm to look like premiership favourites and have proved they can definatly win away from Olympic Park. And they will trash the Tigers next week because their record down there is absolutely dire (which for some reason is the reverse when the Tigers play them at home).

In other news Brett Seymour has been told he has no chance of playing first grade football for the Broncos again, so he will look for another club. There should be a British club out there who would want him, I mean if Wakefield are keen on a woman-basher, so they must be pretty desperate.

Very pleased with the Dragons. We should have won, but I'm happier knowing it wasn't because we blew our chances but rather all those fantastic last ditch efforts from individual Storm players.

Is this the start of another pre-finals Broncos choke?

It's looking more & more like a Storm/Dogs shoot-out to me. Eels might be the team who could surprise us yet tho. Running into form at just the right time.

.
There's a staleness at the Broncos; an acceptance of mediocrity; and a comfort zone. The reason why we dominate from March - July every year is because the club is professional, and we show up every week ready to play, while the other contenders cruise along. However, come August, the other contenders lift their game; lift their level of commitment; steel themselves, while the Broncos (already playing at full capacity) don't have the motivation to lift; steel themselves etc. And therefore they get overtaken. Happens every year. Then, on top of that, we sign guys like Carlaw and Carroll to long term contracts; let Prince, Priddis etc go; and don't be bothered chasing the likes of Myles, Head etc.

Phew, think that covers it!

In fact the Broncs need one more win to make the eight. It's hard to see where that win is going to come from:

v Canberra - unlikely
v Melbourne - lol
v Parra - lol
v Bulldogs - lol
v Warriors - maybe

Which was good, as it meant my multi-bet came in. :D

Of course how stupid could I be forgetting?

Suppose you would have had a bet or two on the rugby on Saturday night?

And goalkicking.

Then again I think Melbourne would have won anyway with Cronk's try.

Who is better Buderus or Cameron Smith?

I know this isn't NRL strictly, but more related to the ESL, whenever I watch a match and it is a close one (eg 4 points), what is with the obession with the commentators to go and suggest they go and kick a field goal? I've lost count of how many times I have heard this.

The match would have been a lot different if the Dragons had been ahead though. They probably wouldn't have let Slater through or had more confidence to finish them off, who knows.

Buderus > Smith

Yeah probably, but still it was an execellent match, and one I didn't who would win, and I would have to question why Bailey was started on the bench, or at least wasn't brought on earlier (say around 12 minutes) when Melbourne were on top inthe beginning of the match.

Still I would put a good price on the Dragons to make the premilery final at least.

apparently a broncos player (apparently again Brett Seymour) was involved in an incident in a brisbane bar last night. the police are taking the complaint very seriously from what ive heard. not a good couple of days for buster...

What is it with rugby league players + booze?
It has to do with their high profile. That kind of thing happens every night (especially weekend nights) at pubs all around the country. The only difference is if you and I had some drunken incident, unless it was something very serious, wouldn't get a mention in the paper.

Nah, I didn't. Didn't really like the odds on offer.

Don't say we're in a slump though!
wayne is kidding himself for thinking otherwise, maybe if he admitted that we are struggling he might be able to do something about turning it around...
