in hindsight look at it, he did play well in that game, the number 1 fullback Minichiello was injured, NSW's fullback Brett Hodgson was injured and Hunt was the number 1 fullback for Queensland before he was injured...
It was a gamble by the selectors no doubt but they were right in chosing him, the only reason people like you and a bunch of other nuffies are having a go at him is because of his NZ heritage...

Nothing to do with his NZ heritage at all. Take off your Broncos jersey for two seconds and you would realise he's not that great. A good first grade player, but did not deserve that jersey. End of story.

Went well in Origin...
That's a bit of an understatement. He was fantastic in origin. Now with Shifcofske in Union, he is Qlds best available fullback and hopefully he will play for well over a decade to come.

My tips for Round 21 as entered into Kyle's comp:

Sharks
Panthers
Eels
Raiders
Broncos
Dragons
Roosters

Fairly tough week, pretty much every game could go either way except Souths-Raiders & I have a funny feeling about that too!

BTW, anyone else do the tipping on the NRL site too? I'm currently 995th out of 55,740 which I'm fairly chuffed with. :)

Brummers, thoughts on Karmichael Hunt?
He's useful. Not sure he's test quality yet, but I reckon his selection probably had as much to do with spiting the kiwis as anything else. Still only a kid, don't forget.

I reckon when fit (& in form) you'd have Mini, Bowen & Hodgson ahead of him for Oz at least just now. One thing he has got over Matt Bowen & Hodgson tho is size, but then so has Wesser.

Bowen is nothing, hes a good club footballer nothing more...
Hunt is a great prospect, no one is doubting Minichiello is the first choice fullback but in the coming years Hunt will establish himself as the clear number 2...

obviously the other clubs rate him as they were lining up to pay him over 350k a year...

I thought after Origin it was Hunt >> Bowen.

It is staggering how many good fullbacks there are, Minichiello, Hunt, Slater, Inglis, Shifcoske, Hodgeson, and a few good other young prospects out there. Name a position which doesn't have pretty good depth?

tbh i think the game is lacking star players...
i mean for origin one all four players picked to play on the wing were actually centres, NSW had to have Brett Finch play halfback, Gasnier play 5/8 in game 3. to me there arent many great wingers, 5/8's or halfbacks...

That's the state of the modern game. The star players are in the forwards. If you have a team that is making the metres then you can have sub-standard halves.
