Did anybody see what happened in a reserve grade match in Northern NSW? 
For the benefit for those who didn't, a player was sent off for the use of an elbow, and as the ref sent him off, said player practically lined the ref up by the collar and started laying into him (ie punch the living daylights out of the ref), which caused him to be lead away from the match.
That's the end of his career and even criminal charges, IMO he should go away for at least 1-2 years. What a great way to go out

Saw that incident.. was surprised to see how cool and collective the ref was after that incident.. he should never be allowed to play footy again..

TBF to RL they seem to be making a real effort to clean the sport up (maybe too much so for some people's taste), but with divots like this charmer it's no wonder mums are reluctant to let little Johnny play the sport.

Thought I would do a quick review of my boys so far this season.
(all rankings out of 10)
Steve Price - 7 Has been impressive all year. Never has a bad game and always puts in 110%. Great club man and leader.
Patrick Ah Van - 6 Limited opportunities but looks a capable first grader from what I have seen.
Todd Byrne - 4 He has been poor in nearly every game he has played in this year. Certainly nowhere near his form of last year.
Sione Faumuina - 6 Had a very poor start to the year but has been on fire lately. He is the key to any future attacking success we have for the remainder of the season.
Wairangi Koopu - 7 Quiet achiever. Solid, underrated player. Should have been picked in the ANZAC test over Lou Anderson.
Michael Luck - 6 Hard worker. Good buy for the club. His best is yet to come.
Tony Martin - 5 Has been kicking well up until last week, but that is the only reason he gets a run each week. Poor centre, defensively weak and doesn't offer anything in attack
Sam Rapira - 7 Made a good start to his first grade career. Big lad who can hit hard.
Grant Rovelli - 6 Started the year at hooker (crazy) and is slowly fitting into the halfback role. Signed up until 2010, very promising player imo.
Clinton Toopi - 2 Thank god he is off to Leeds
Evarn Tuimavave - 8 Our best player so far this year. He has been terrific. His form has been up there with the top props in the comp so far.
Manu Vatuvei - 5 Injury has held him back. Had a good game last week but is still playing well below his potential
Louis Anderson - 5 Overrated player. I am waiting for him to play like a Test player should.
Nathan Fien - 4 Terrible at halfback. He is a hooker and has looked reasonable since he moved there.
George Gattis - 5 Looked ok in the games he has played. Personally can't see why he is at the club.
Awen Guttenbeil - 6 His form has been up and down. Hopefully he finishes his last season off with the club on a high.
Lance Hohaia - Needs some game time. Possibly replacing Fien at hooker
Simon Mannering - 6 Hasn't done much wrong. Still developing and growing. Will probably replace Awen next year.
Jerome Ropati - 3 Strong runner but hasn't got much else. Like a turnstile in defence, doesn't have a kicking game, no vision, makes too many errors and gives away stupid penalties. Should be released.
Misi Taulapapa - 7 Even though he has been released, thought I would still give him a rating cause I thought he looked pretty good. Ah Van now has an opportunity to impress as much as Misi did.
Brent Webb - 7 Mostly solid at the back and has been making a few line breaks recently. Undecided whether I would prefer the club to re-sign him or go for someone else.
Ivan Cleary - 6 Still learning but has made a few silly decisions. Fien at 7 and Rovelli at 9 was the most obvious one. We have had 4 or 5 local debutants this year so he is obviously making an effort to rebuild the club with new blood. I still have confidence in him.
Warriors Overall - Probably a 5.5 - 6 Wasn't expecting much this year and we have gone ok. Competed well. We are rebuilding, as long as we keep improving I will be happy.

I used to Referee Referee League a few years back, and i was actually sacked for defending myself against an attacker..
I blew a penalty to one side and their trainer (who was on the field at the time) didnt agree.. He started abusing me so i told him to leave the field... He came up right in my face an hit me, my 1st reaction was of disblelief before i threw my whistle and took off after him.. i got a few in before we were seperated.. I was suspended and all the guy got was a slap on the wrist..
The lack of support for Referees in general, but in particular junior referees is the main reason why we dont have good refs coming through.. At the time i was hit i was on the train-on panel for rep footy but i told them to jam it and never went back...
If this guy is not jailed then the system once again has failed...

Souths have signed David Kidwell (good career ender), with the Roosters trying to have a deal done with Fitzgibbon before July 1 and are confident of doing so he doesn't leave the club like Morley (Warrington) and Cross (Western Force), while Roy Asatasi has been given permisson to hold talks with other clubs, most notebly Souths and the Roosters. Meanwhile Ryan Hoffman has been re-signed until 2009.
There was speculation that Craig Wing has had a falling out with Ricky Stuart and is looking for a release and the Dragons being mentioned as a destination, but the Roosters have denied this and have stated he will be a Rooster until his contract runs out.

im worried about Hunt, apparently we have Brent Webb signed IF Hunt decides to leave, however if hunt is kept then Webb wont be going to Brisbane...

Isn't Darius Boyd a fullback? He played well there last week. I'd be more inclined to put him there instead of buying someone else - after all, Boyd isn't worth much money yet, and we've got plenty of wing options.broncoman said:
